Sin City director Robert Rodriguez will relaunch the Predator science fiction horror franchise with a new movie, according to trade magazine Variety.

His script for Predators will bring back the cult alien hunter introduced in the 1987 original, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Variety said.

The director is also reported to be co-directing a film based on a character featured in his 2007 movie Grindhouse.

The knife-wielding ex-policeman Machete appeared in a mock trailer in the film.

The full-length feature will see Machete intent on revenge after being wronged by a corrupt senator, Variety said.

A Predator sequel, in 1990, was followed by the crossover Alien vs Predator film in 2004 and its 2007 follow-up, Alien vs Predator: Requiem.

Is it a reboot or remake? There is no way they can remake the original film, the cast is what made it (as well as the pred obviously). No way anyone now could better it, but if its reboot involving a seperate story then who knows, i did read he said he had his own ideas for the predator mythos, which worries me because its not something that needs changing. The whole mythos is kinda set in stone now, its being going long enough.

If it's directed by Robert Rodriguez, then it will be an 18 i imagine. He's one of the few directors that could pull off a new predator film i think.

I agree, I think it could be done well, Robert Rodriguez is a far cry from the no name directors that are usually associated with these sequels.

TBH I am really excited by this. Has been heavily rumoured for a long time now, and I think rodriguez can pull it off. You can pretty much guarantee it'll be a balls out 18 rated violent film, which it needs to be. Very much looking forward to it.

With any luck, it will be a big success and they'll get someone to make an AVP film which doesnt suck chode. I really don't understand how they can't get a decent film out of such a brilliant concept, get Rebellion to do it tbh. It should be AvPvMarines.

I hope that is ignores the stories of the AvP films and is a 'stand alone' title, with no referencing to the other films. To me present day and on Earth was a big fail for AvP.
