Hello thar,

Going to apply, will I need motorfactors receipts or similar? And does it cost anything?

I have nothing on me but getting some oil and a filter tonight would be a bonus seeing as my oil looks like poo.

Thanks!

I enquired at my Local Halfrauds and the bloke said that 'Working on your own car and other family members cars does not entitle you to a card' :(

I have one and don't recall being asked many questions etc. Just filled in the form and received my card. It can then be used in any Halford's store.

It totally depends on the store manager. Some will give them to virtually anyone, others are far far stricter.

Getting a Trade Card all comes down to specific stores. Leamington plainly turned me away, whilst Coventry were happy to give me one. It's all about showing them some receipts for local 'factors and just telling them you're regularly needing bits and bobs.

It's handy for working on you're car at the weekend, because inevitably you'll forget something, and It'll be Sunday afternoon - Thankfully Halfords are open 'til 4.

I'm not in the trade and was initially refused, then i went in with a 3" stack of reciepts totalling over 25K from the last year and suddenly i was their best friend.

The card is cool for some stuff and pretty useless on others but its nice to have.

Erm, so if your not "in the trade" how do you have 25k worth of recipts. Who did you borrow them from.

As its a 3" high stack its got to be a lot, so low items, going to be fairly busy in evenings and weekends fixing peoples cars.

And if its not a trade job, how do you get all of these customers?

I built my own competition vehicle from scratch....those reciepts are only the ones i had to hand at the time. So no, i didnt borrow them, and im not in the trade either - i wouldnt say they are all low cost but they do range from a few bolts through to a stand alone automatic gearbox ecu and management system, and an engine and bits!

Got any photographs/information, just dont remember it being mentioned before, must be fairly serious for that kind of money...?!

I started a big thread on this a while a go. I said I was a member of ClioSport (which I am) and printed off the membership details and they handed one over.

With some forum memberships they off the cards anyway (forgot who) so I used that also.

Good luck.

I got mine through the Vauxhall club. Payed for itself pretty quick too, the discount on some stuff is mad..

its mostly to do with managers discretion whether you get one or not, ive got one, but thats cos i work there :D

just go in, and speak nicely, say you've bought a few things before and are planning to buy tools and bits in the near future. reciepts help obviously :)

Hmmmm friend of mine is a manager there so might ask him to get me one. Anywhere where it shows what you get off what or just have to wait till you get to the till?
