that still dosnt work would i need to contact o2 or phones 4 u as the sim works in other handsets i dont know if its a sim issue or the phone i tried a brand new sim in there also and said 'sim card registration failed'

Ok guys, I have a seriously quick request (need to CB vodafone within the next 2 hours! in order to get phone for tomorrow as I'm away for the weekend!).

Basically I have spoken to them and for the additional £5 a month they can add the web bolt on giving me web unlimited (within fair use) web usage on the 5800 and provide the handset for free so I'll be paying £25 a month with stop the clock (minutes roll over etc on existing tarrif which I've had for the past 18 months).

Anyway, the handset will be unlocked and unbranded as far as the guy knew and I had a few questions as over lunch I had a play with one in a shop and liked it!

1: Do I need the Nokia SOftware to transfer files to and from it?
2: Are the headphones decent quality?
3: With moderate wifi usage how much battery do you get?
4: Any links to decent apps for the phone like theme customisers (ala Sony Ericsson), 3rd party browsers etc?
5: Is this a decent deal for an unlocked 5800? (cliffs: £25 a month + free handset (unlocked) upgrade from SE K800i)
6: What resolution is video recording?

Well sod it, thanks! I'll order it in a mo. The HTC Magic doesn't look like it will drop in contract price anytime soon after release (£30 min).

It's unlocked too so if I did want to I suppose an easy sale is posisble down the line.
 
There isa theme customiser (change colour sceme and icons but not home page layout) but it's not very user friendly, i could'nt make heads or tails of it.
 
Well it's arriving tomorrow so will set about putting the music I most listen to on it (music from the 4GB card in the car :D) and setting up wallpapers etc and post back!

I have 7 days to play with it or get a full refund. If it works out to be a turkey then I'll just go for somethig else, most likely the LG Arena.

I realised that DIVX won't be much use to me on a mobile device unless they play H264 content with AAC or AC3 audio as pretty much everything I get now is high def so DIVX support isn't a must anymore.

so do people use their fingers to text and with what keyboard? i usually use the alphanumeric, still not used to the qwerty!
 
I had a play with the qwerty in store and like dit a lot, fast typing worked well too in widescreen mode but in portrait mode the keys were too small for finger presses even though the correct keys got pressed you kept thinking you pressed a wrong key and had to pause and look constant;ly :p
 
The supplied Nokia earphones are crap if you dont have small lugs. I cant even get them to stay in my lugs! Though I like them, I cannot use them.
 
does anybody know how to change the wep key to a known network ?

i've changed the password to the wireless in my house and my phone won't connect but for the life of me i can't see how to change it to the new one on the phone its annoying me lol.

I'm not entirely sure of the correct location of this, but i'm sure you will find it if you browse through the settings:

Goto settings > connections > wlan, and i think there is a list of all the access points, just delete the your house and add it again.
 
Well the V20 firmware is really doing it's best to totally put me off the phone.

1. I've lost a load of my editing power. Carriage return works, but nothing stays selected, nor can I jump around a text box and edit stuff.

2. Browsing speed, if anything, is slower! I still have to keep images off or the phone crashes when loading big pages.

It almost seems like Nokia starved this phone of RAM.

hmm with my phone on V20 I can select stuff and jump around a text box...browsing speed too is ok - can load 1+mb pages without problem. Seems the problems with the update are not universal which is odd.
