Hiphop fans in here?

I am very much into The Roots and De La Soul, so more classic hip hop. I have just noticed De La Soul playing in Bristol this June! What are they like live? I saw The Roots last year and they were a lot better than i was expecting :)

I live in Cardiff, and we never get anything good here :( Everything goes to Bristol! all we get is pop music :(

Now to try and convince my friends that seeing De La Soul will be good!

Wow thanks for the negativity.

You do know there is more to hip-hop than just mc'ing? Instrumental hip-hop from the likes of dj shadow/mix master mike e.t.c. have no vocals.

And i take it you also avoid every other source of american media tv/films/music/games because of this?

Yey... booked my tickets for De La Soul in Bristol and am really looking forward to it :)

Anyone else going?

Awesome thread, I am getting more into my hip-hop but the amount of artists here I don't know where to start off, can anyone knock me up a short playlist of tracks that will blow me away?

sometimes the stuff is a little outthere and a bit too weird but these are the good examples imho.

glad to see we have some true hiphop fans around here. I almost want to cry when I here most Rap and r&b nowadays and the pathetic "indie" and "dance" music that all sounds the same.

Peace to the Gods and the Earths.
