This is really ******* me off.

I haven't had a 360 for a while, but stupidly forgot to cancel my XBox Live subscription. When I realised this recently, I spent a fair old time trying to find a way of cancelling online - but with no luck.

So I send an email to their contact details saying I want to cancel, and get an email back saying they're sorry I wish to cancel - but to supply my contact details so they can give me a call back & discuss it.

I reply saying that I don't even own an XBox anymore & that I don't want to get into any prolonged correspondence about it, or else I'll just tell my bank to cancel any further payments.

To my surprise/annoyance, I get a similar email today - saying they want to discuss it with me over the phone. Surely the lack of any way of using the service would be a clue as to why I don't want to give them any more money - but obviously not!!! :(

Anyone else had similar problems with them?

Regards

Hold on. You don't want to have a 10 minute call with them to cancel your card?

I know it's annoying not being able to do it online but it's clear they can only cancel through a phone call

It's the same for magazine subscriptions etc. Which reminds me I need to phone them up lol.

Sorry, but it's the principal. They can easily cancel if instructed to via email - what's the difference between that & a phone call?!! (a phone call is no more secure). They just want to try and do a sales pitch.

Cancel it from your end then? If you don't have an xbox no more, can't do any harm, surely? if they keep e-mailing you set a rule to put the e-mails in trash etc :)

I will do. I'd have rather just done it a bit more 'gracefully' really. It's the same old cr@p really - make it easy to join & as troublesome as possible to leave.

All companies do this :) I sold my xbox360 yesterday I am fairly sure I bought my last gold subscription with a code, so no real fear of them charging my card, I think. If they do will get Bank to refund payment.

True - just my beef at the moment.

Mind you, I'd give a bit of respect to a couple of companies recently - both Virgin Media & mlb.com have cancelled things easily & respectfully recently for me, with no rubbish like this. :)

Of course, I could always let them phone up & explain that I don't have the required machine to use the service - and then ask them for a free one to carry on using it!!!

I hate having to phone them, when I cancelled Xbox Live about a week after GTA IV came out I got asked "You don't enjoy going around liberty city with friends on GTA IV?" to which I said "No it sucks", then there was an awkward silence.

I think it's the fact 99% of e-commerce activities from other companies can be easily administered on-line..

I can't believe MS don't make it easier, changing e-mail addresses/credit card details/cancelling/subscribing should all be easy online activities..

I know it only takes a few mins to phone up, but in this day and age, it's not exactly customer orientated..

Dude you know the cans of worms that 1 post could open on this board :D

You don't have to call MS anymore to cancel live - they've added a 'remove credit card details' option from Xbox.com - this is how I just cancelled and it worked fine :)
