Anti-Aliasing in Half Life 2

for some reason i cant get it to work, i tried forcing it from the nvidia cp but its not having it :(

any ideas?

I had the same problem when i installed it recently. 6x with my HD 3850 didnt look like it was working but 4x did but still not as good when i had hl2 installed ages ago.
 
That screenshot *is* using AA but it seems to be set at 2xAA, maybe even 2xquincunx.

Double check your graphics card control panel.

It smoothes out the jaggies. Anti-aliasing means just that. Aliasing is the term given to the stair-step effect you see on games without AA. It's more prevalent on lower resolutions. The higher the number, the smoother the image will be. As far as I know, it must be in multiples of 2 or 4.

hl2 looks so good maxed out mmmhmhmh

Gotta agreed with you there. Cranked all the settings up to max (on stock, no Cinematic mod or anything), and it looks visually great considering its a few years old.

Quality game.
