Windows 7 hits RC stage Build 7100

Depends if you're going to utilise it tbh. In all my years I have never ever used the search feature on Windows. I have my hard disks pretty well organised so I know where stuff is at all times. On my main rig running Vista x64 I've never used it too but left it on. The only exception to that is obviously using MS Outlook to search for a old emails.

Defender service is also disabled right now too on the NC10.

Been using this all day today.

Im loving it over XP, but not enough to tempt me away from OS X (and I wish it would, I'd rather have a £1k 4+Ghz Core i7 build then a £2k 2.66Ghz i7 :(

You should defiantly leave indexing on imo.

On my main PCs i do but on my EEE which i sold it was best to disable it to extend the life of the SSD, same with the Virtual page file,

I just wanna know if the same can be applied to the NC10 or if things have come on a bit since the EEE

It's now on my main rig, and aside from the COD4 problem, it seems to be fine. Bit weird getting used to the taskbar so I just got RocketDock, and all is good :) (First time using Win 7)

I installed it as a dual boot yesterday and it seems very impressive. When I tested Vista I only done it as I was curious, this seems much better and i'll probably be using it more than my current OS now.

If I upgrade from Vista will itunes still work OK?

Also Paintshop pro 12 and Photoshop CS3?

The only games I play are COD4 and Left4Dead.

The 7100 64bit version I have is 3.04Gb.

The one I have is this size

7100.PNG

Will this be the same as the version that gets realsed on the 5th?

For those picking this up from the usual sources be careful of as a number of infected iso's are being distributed. Check the MD5 before using.

more rc details

ust a day after Paul Thurrott revealed 'Windows XP Mode' for Windows 7, he has come out and posted a few more interesting details about the upcoming release.

Here are the following pieces of information he revealed, which he's "pretty sure this is all new info."

"AAC/H.264/MPEG-2 support will not be provided to Windows 7 Home Basic and Starter customers. That functionality will only go out to Home Premium, Professional, and Enterprise/Ultimate users. But it looks like there will be add-ons made available (free or paid, it's not clear) to users of low-end Windows 7 versions.

Maximum RAM. All 32-bit versions of Windows 7 "support" 4 GB of RAM, of course. But if you go 64-bit, you can add up to 8 GB in Home Basic and Starter, 16 GB in Home Premium, and 192 GB in Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate.

Windows Media Player Remote Media Experience (RME) is not available in Windows 7 Home Basic or Starter. However, all versions can share media over a home network.

All Windows 7 SKUs support 20 simultaneous SMB connections. This works out to 10 users, apparently.

XP Mode. As we first revealed yesterday, only Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate are licensed to install XP Mode."

Nothing too major, but they're all good things to know. Thoughts, Neowin?

Your checksum has to be the same as the one posted in order to be an unaltered copy. I would not use anything that did not match the MD5 Hashes posted, I've updated my post with more information like exact file sizes and names.
Keep looking there are plenty of good copies out there ;)
