Fifa09 on PS3 - Loud Fan

Hey,

Just bought this today.. Yeah i know, i'm late in the game.. But anyway, got this on my ps3 and with EVERY other title, my ps3 is whisper quiet.. However 10mins into playing Fifa09 and my ps3 as if some sort of miracle happens , my ps3 turns into a 360, and starts bellowing out a rather loud fan noise... Only experienced this on Fifa09... Given that its practically the same engine at Fifa08, surely it can't possibly be putting more strain on the system than its predecessor or games like Call Of Duty, i'm guessing maybe just some sloppy programming from EA?

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem? Fortunately it shuts up once I leave the game…. My ps3 is vertical dust free, done the clean out thingy and nothing came out.. and as I said fifa09 is the only game that causes the fans to kick in and not any old fan but the level 2 noise level… which is quite loud and enough to annoy me enough into not playing this game…

Not tested on my original ps3 yet, but typically my original 60gig is louder than my 40gig and its doing it on my 40 so I don’t hold high hopes for it being quiet with my 60…

I have a newish 80Gb, and although the fan does pick up after playing FIFA 09 for a while I can't say its really that noticeable unless you are sitting in silence. Certainly nothing like 360 noise levels anyway.

It must be a common occurence, and I think its what did my last PS3 in (fifa), its the only game that puts all that pressure on my ps3, I went and bought a new fifa (the last one was stuck in my ps3 that got sent away) and I thought a new disk might have helped for a while (along with my refurb console) but its back to its old ways already. Definitely something up with it but I guess you have to put up with it

Well it doesn't do it on my original 60gig PS3, but i've only tested playing it about 3 games continous.. But it does it always within the first game on my 40gig ps3... But the thing is, my 60gig ps3 is louder because it always has a fan going.. Nothing like a 360, but noticable but not annoyingly noticable, unlike my 40gig when Fifa is playing or my 360 when it's on without the dvd spinning, let alone when the cd spins, then to me it's unbearable..

The only other time i've heard my 40gig fans spin up was once while playing COD4, but i turned it off, and the fan noise never came back.. It's been silent up until Fifa09 and it's had it's fair share of use..

Thinking about getting the disc exchanged just incase... Can't see it being the disc, but stranger things have happened in life.. I disabled 1080i output just incase it caused the ps3 to work harder, but that didn't help.

Maybe it's an earlier version that EA released before realising? Here's hoping... Otherwise the noise will just continually annoy me to never play it... Besides Fifa08 is essentially the same game to me... and that doesn't make any noise.

fifa 09 makes a louder noise than most other games... but nothing that major to put me off playing it

Fifa is the only game I have which makes my fan work at full pelt, and that only seems to be when I have the heating on in the house also! It is by no means the worst thing about fifa, god knows why I keep on playing it

ok swapped game for a different copy and it still does it... Wasn't really expecting anything different, but now i've done it i'll just accept it.. Or play it in the bedroom on my original ps3... it is annoying with the fan noise.. maybe even louder than the 360 fans... Definately not with the DVD spinning on the 360 though.. To beat that you'd have to be living in the jet engine of a jumbo.
