Launch day 60gb PS3 borked

well its happened! my ps3 wont turn on

it powers up, flashes yellow then beeps 3 times then turns off and flashes red.

any ideas wot the problem is?

Thats prob not the help you want.....

Anyways with it being launch day one I think you would be lucky to get another 60gb launch day type. Unless you ebay one. Unless you didnt use it that much to play PS2 games.

With it being out of warranty you may attempt to open it up?

I'm not sure if Sony still do this but back in the PS1 days, you could call them and pay a small fee for a replacement. Was much cheaper than buying a new console. Although it wouldn't be a 60GB replacement since I believe they stopped producing those a long time ago

With it being a launch console i assume you payed full wack for it, there for if sony argues with you i would tell them i expect a 400 pound peace of electronics to last longer than 2 years.

i rang sony and they said it would £145 to have it replaced and i would lose all my saved games and HD content, not best pleased actually lol

There is a heatgun fix, that seems to work a lot of the time for the Yellow light problem. I've never done it, But my friend did(A Jap console) and also there's a lot on the web with positive feedback

Its technical, and requires the ps3 being split down into components, BUT it does work. So it depends if you feel upto the challenge

Have you tried resetting the output signal by holding down the power-on button for 5 seconds?

My launch US 60gb PS3 is still working. Not sure how much I have left with it. Might buy a UK 20gb model now just incase the 60gb dies.

yeah nothing happened as it cant stay on longer then 2 seconds

Well i think dont know if its true or not but apprantly you can take out continues play anytime so you could do that wait about 2 weeks then ring them and says its borked and then its stil ltechnicly in warranty...

Or so am told could be all untrue but hey nothing to lose anyway lol

I fixed one the other weekend simple to do but take your time and dont rush, the one i did is still working fine ATM.

take out continous play wait a few weeks ring them up and say it stopped working or kick it down the stairs and claim from the house insurance
