Hi I have this ram and according to the motherboard manual to get the full 2000MHz you put the sticks in slots 2 and 3 the black slots. However 2 problems, the memory and motherboard supposedly support EPP2.0 automatically and i am only getting 1066 why is this ? do i need to o/c it as thiis is half the speed. Also only 2gb of it is recognised in xp yet in vista i get the full 4gb. Any ideas appreciated guys i need to get it o/c ed and gaming! cheers.

Hi, Thanks for the response and yes the xp is 32 bit and vista is 64. What difference will this make. Also how can i take advantage of the EPP 2.0 and double check that the ram is definately running at 2000Mhz? I have the sig like that just so people know exactly what system i have and can diagnose the fault better. Cheers for any help.

I thought by now everyone on the internet knew that a 32-bit OS has a max addressable RAM limit of 4GB.

The forum has rules about how big your sig can be, have a look in the FAQ.

With XP 32bit you will see less than 4GB of ram usually around 3-3.4GB, however since you're running tri-sli it's going to be even lower hence you only being able to see 2GB, in short you need to run a 64bit OS.

For your ram download a program such as Everest and it'll tell you the exact memory speed amongst other stuff when using its built in benchmarks.

Reflux, yes ido know XP only shows 4gb and if you read my question it states i am only seeing 2Gb , not 4 not 3 but 2!! As for running tri sli i didnt know this affected it to drop doen to 2gb so thanks for this.

You said that it shows 2GB on 32-Bit XP. And Happy said what the reason may be.

It's due to the video memory being deducted from the ram, but I'm not sure beyond this point. Although it doesn't deduct all the video memory or you'd be left with about 900MB :p

Yes I did read your question; you've quite clearly been living under a rock for the past three years as this is a very popular question in computing forums. 4GB is the max Windows can see, and this is depleted by other memory in the system. So if you had a single 512mb 8800GTS you'd expect to see around 3.5gb for example.

You know a lot of people say this. But my 32 bit xp install has never budged from 3GB (real shame it can't see all 8GB :( ), despite changing from a 512MB Graphics card to a 1024MB one...

Also DDR1066 actually runs at 533mhz, but due to double data rate it doubles the figure to 1066Mhz :)

As far as Vista is concerned, even if it is only 32 bit OS it still shows all 4GB, even if it can't use all of it. Why this is? Dunno, probably as it shows total memory in the computer, as opposed to total useable memory to it?

Yeah I'm not sure how it works, but I certainly remember someone else on here only having 2.5GB ram with 8800 Ultras SLI, maybe you only go down below the standard 3-3.5GB if running multiple graphics adapters?

Vista only shows the full 4GB of RAM in the System properties in control panel, but if you go into task manager and click the performance tab, it tells you exactly how much physical memory your OS can use...

If I remember correctly, it was only when Service Pack 1 became available that Vista started showing the full 4GB in the Basic System Information window...

I have 4GB in my PC which has got 32bit Vista installed, and under the performace tab in task manager, only 3134MB of RAM is recognized...
