My dad taught me ages ago and then when we came to learn it in science mine was all wired up perfectly before anyone else had even started :p

I though this was a trick question at first.

I learnt from my dad, plus ive helped out wiring out a house. :D

yes I'm a sucker for a bargain and get a fair amount from America. So simply slice and dice a new plug on. It helps most electronics are 110-230v these days.

I hate these moulded plugs. Use to just cut plugs of and save them. Now you have to buy them. So much for recycling and being green.

I always thought things like this should be taught in general studies. Basic life skills which are useful in adult hood. Rather than a subject which is pointless at the moment.

My Dad taught me how when I was about 6 years old and I used to go to work with him, along with re-soldering dry joints on TV circuit boards and various other things a 6 year old shouldn't be doing.

i voted yes.

its pretty simple to wire a plug :) although i have a plug socket i need to re wire as its a bit damged and i have no idea how to do that with out frying my self (it's all cracked and coming out wall next to my bed and is powering my pc 2 fish tanks tv and amp etc and every thing else in my room :p )

Yes, but im stealing your Brown Right Blue Left analogy because i always have to stare at it for 30 seconds before i remember!

I can fit a plug but in all honesty if it didn't have that little card in it telling where to plug positive/negative/ground i would struggle. But i am bright enough to figure it out, if not I am sure the internet holds all the answers.

Yep my dad made sure I knew about 20 years ago!

Since then I've changed plugs, changed sockets, changed light fittings, replaced old fuse boards etc etc.

you're not allowed to fit your own plug,as it could be incorrect, and you would not have sufficient training to distinguish between the different wires, you need to be properly qualified plug fitter with the appropriate certification stating that fact that you can actually change a plug...

the real art to this certificate is deciding which fuse to fit!
