I've been working since August and paying income tax.

I'm somewhat sure I can claim some of this back, as it is done on a per month basis as if I was earning that much every month of the year, which I wasn't April through July?

If so, how?

Yeah, worth a look. Wait till you get your p60 then work it out and call hmrc.

This is right.

After i got my P60 I went down to the nearest tax office to work and said "I think im paying too much tax"

They took a photocopy of my p60 and told me it would take 6-8 weeks to reevaluate me.

8 weeks later they said id have an extra 2 grand in my next paycheque.

Cashback.

And then you suffer from intaxication - that delightful feeling at getting money back from the IR until you realise it was your money in the first place. :p

Unfortunately I can't claim the above term or definition, it was part of a competition several years ago to alter a word subtly but change the meaning entirely.

What happens if you're no longer employed? Got a hell of a lot of tax to claim back whenever it arrives!! How do they refund u?

I just recently changed jobs, would it be worth my while handing in my p60 just to see what they say? I've only ever had 2 rebates @ £27.50 each in the 6 or so years i've been working.
