Am currently shopping around and I am recieving quotes of around £110 to £125 for either Eagle F1s or Vredstein Sessantas.

I am looking for something a bit cheaper so am wondering what the 3rd best tyre is?

Have seen some Falken FK452s for £140 a pair which seems like a pretty good price for a fairly decent tyre.

Have heard good things about Toyo T1-Rs but for a little bit more money I can be getting the Eagles or Vreds.

Don't want Pilot Sports as they cost a fortune :p

My size is 225/40/Y18.

go for the vredsteins personally

not worth skimping on tyres. As you've discovered its a false economy as anything worth having is only slightly cheaper

but have you checked www.elitedirect.co.uk for vredsteins. They charge £120 for my size, and thats 19" and 35 section. Yours must be cheaper.

*edit* Ultrac sessantas are £92 delivered there. Much more like it :)

Don't bother skimping on tyres.

Also try shopping around. I've just managed to beat my local BMW dealer to within 20 quid fitted of the Mytyres price.

Yep. I did check that site and the quote very good for the Vreds. Am currently ringing around and waiting for people to get back to me. I've read a review for the FK452s on a TVR and they said that the performance was on par with GSD3s but only slightly worse in the wet. 15% performance drop I think.

One of the guys i've rang says he can get hold of the Vreds this week so am just waiting for his quote. I'll see if he can match the £92 price from elitedirect.

Reminds me I need to replace the ditchfinders on the mini sometime...dear lord they are bad in the wet!

Well, the Falkens were on ebay for £150 delivered. Looking on some sites suck as mytyres, the price is £92 a corner. And with the reviews of the 452s I figured they would be a bargain.

It's not like I was buying some Sunnys :p

I understand what yourself and Fox are saying. Buy the best when it comes to tyres as it's only that inch or 2 that keeps you attached to the road.

I just think cheap tyres are a false economy, especially when tyres as excellent as the vredsteins are £92 delivered.

The falkens are £66 delivered. Hardly worth compromising for the sake of £26 a corner.

You appear to be confusing cheap and nasty ditch finders with budget performance tyres that actually work well. Are the Vredsteins 40% better than the Falkens as the price would suggest? I doubt it.

Vreds were 10th!

Ah but that test is slightly misleading because it included a subjective element about how the tyre 'felt'. Which is important but is not related to outright grip/safety. They published a table without the subjective results as well.

Better :)

I'm surprised at how cheap P Zeros are. Don't they come as standard on Lambos so you'd expect them to be some sort of super tyre. I realise the size of wheels on the Lambo are massive though.

Hehehe /giggling schoolgirl.

Lass at works father runs a garage. Gave him a call.

£74 fitted for Vred Sessantas a good deal? ;)

Get them.

Thats a proper good deal. I paid £98 including fitting for mine when I got them earlier this year.

They are a great set of tyres, not as good as the old Eagle F1's I had but better than the pilot sports I had by quite a margin when pushing on, and they are much quieter too.
