If you had unlimited money...

I always say I'd buy several good but not ridiculous specs and either give them to friends or setup a small LAN area for myself and said friends. More fun that way.

here's what i would get :P

A fully working Gold Plated ZX Spectrum +2.

It's to blame for me playing all these computer games many years later

£2,500 on a decent, top end watercooled i7 righ with a couple of 295's in or similar.

£5,000 on 5x£1,000 servers, three to run myself a web host (2xfrontend, 1xbackend), one to stream media around the house and one to host some game servers.
£1,000 on a fast HTPC system, totally silent of course.
£10,000 on the rest of a HT room (tv, seats, sound system, consoles etc)
£2,000 on a gaming laptop, in case I'm out
£5,000 on gadgets - phones, mp3's, cameras etc

That'll do me, the HTPC room would last me a good long time; the servers I'd just add storage to and replace the main rig once every few years. Don't really need unlimited - a cool 100mill would set me ;-)

Nobody specced a system with a 1tb OCZ Z drive in it yet. For a cool £2,640 surely that has to make the money no object build as a "system" drive.

Don't see the point in speccing the most expensive parts. Any one can do that and we would all have the same.

Can't wait for ssd to fall in price though.

Firstly you should go with anything from OcUK (no offense to them at all) at this price level you'd guy a 4-way Xeon motherboard (allowing a 16 core machine) and couple it with at least 32GB of ECC RAM. Next on storage 12TB in one machine is pointless especially in that spec you'd get a dedicated storage box, I've seen one giving 24 TB at the £10k mark. If all else fails - just buy a mac Pro!

If I had an unlimted budget?

Probably get the guys from mnpctech to do me a custom TJ07, an I7 D0 custom watcercooled system with 2 GTX295's, a 1TB PCIE SSD and some Intel SSD's in raid 0 for boot.

Then I would have the largest building ever made built so I could go to the top and throw it off.

Just for kicks.

I'd probably just get a reasonable phenom system, 4 1tb hds, some SSDs for boot, 2 HD4890s, a Wacom Cintiq (£1000!) and a very large monitor.

That's pretty much what I had in mind too :D
