Which package are you on? There's nothing wrong with the Easynet (Sky/UK Online) network for gaming, you just need to ask them to adjust your interleave settings. Here's mine:

Code:
Tracing route to jolt.co.uk [84.234.17.86]

SKY
Should any customer be transferred to Tier 3 and request for their max delay levels to be decreased as a result of them using their broadband connection for Gaming, please arrange for this to be done. You should look to set their max delays at 8. Please ensure you leave the customer with a stable line after completing this."

After the 10 day settling in period for your line ring sky customer service ask to be put on TIER 3 AND SET MAX DELAYS TO 8 this should help lower your ping.

Ive recently migrated to Sky Max and connect at 8mbit (850kb/s sustained while downloading) pinging google is ~35ms.

Im very happy with the service. If I had to get the interleaving reduced, does it negatively impact on something else? ie it will only let me connect at say 6mbit?

Why would sky not automatically reduce this in the first place if it didnt cause any other issues.

Its no longer tier3. It's CST. Just be clear you are calling about pings. You can also do it through sky.com as a request and it will be actioned.

Reducing the interleave depth might mean you see more packet loss. In some cases, you'll see zero difference (other than the reduction in latency).

I thought I woud leave it for a bit instead of hanging off the phone for hours. It's down to 43ms now, praps it will drop a little further.
