British combat operations in Iraq will come to an end on Thursday lunchtime with a handover to American forces.

The move, a month ahead of schedule, ends a six-year UK military presence.

Personally I didn't realise that we were coming out so soon, so it was a bit of a shock when I read it on the news there now. Does this mean that there will be more activity in Afghanistan for now onward?

That has always been the plan, whats new?

Im aware it has but a lot of people i know think for some reason that the opposite will happen now. I just cant wait to see the reaction when they find out thats all

"We need a troop surge in Afghanistan"

Hmm I seem to remember the Russians saying that? It's gonna hurt bad :(

Also the current day taliban are less trained and equipped, plus the soldier of today is able to produce 10X the amount of firepower.

And another benefit is that the Iranians do not like the taliban. and most likely will not be giving aid to them. Plus the pakistan is moving against them. also all the basra weapons and armor which includes challengers, warriors, and bulldogs will be moving in afghanistan, they are next to immune ot current gen ied.
also aac will move in resulting in better quality missions.
