Hi going to Egypy on Honeymoon in June.

Can someone who has researched into these policies before recommend a suitable company?

Thanks.

Don't use Royal sun Alliance!

I had "good" cover with them, I needed medical treatment when in Sandiago, so I contacted them, only to find out, that the cover only pays out upon return to the UK - All claims must be done in writing.... (turns out to be standard practice)

All the doctors etc would only take cash no credit cards, and I didnt have the cash to pay the ridiculous fee's.
I had to goto a drug drop in center in the end to beg for help, I was surrounded by crackhead Mexicans making gringo jokes at me for about 7hrs. I really hated that experience, it sounds funny now, but it wasn't too great at the time when in pain.

I cant recommend you a insurer, but whoever you go with just make sure you have funds available to pay for any mishaps yourself first.

Every company i have used requires you to pay up front for small claims, usually <£1000 and claim when back in the UK. Had a similar thing happen to me need some dental work which cost £400, I was only 17 at the time so had no credit card and not enough money to pay. Luckily i managed to borrow money of mates to pay for it and got it all back when in the uk.

As for insurance, check out American Express, not sure how competitive they are with other companies ( i get it for free) but they pay out very quickly.

Every time I travel I always use the same company - AA ( http://www.aatravelinsurance.com/ )

Cheap, I think their policy is quite good and I've known of only 2 other individuals who've made a claim against their holiday while using AA and have had no bother with them at all.

Whilst we are on the subject of travel insurance does anyone know of any which cover you in the event of illness of your partner? Most do but you need to be married or living together. I don't live with my girlfriend, but if something happened to me/her whilst we were away, I cannot find insurance that would cover charges the other would incur. Does this even exist? Why do you have to live with them

I don't know of any that would cover you - mine certainly didn't when we had some issues in Marrakech last year.

Wouldn't your partner be covered under her own insurance?

Slightly off topic, but do you mind if I ask what the 'issues' were? Ironic that I'm going there in 3 mths. Was it just a general thing or something about the place in itself?

Loved the place (we stayed at Es Saadi), no issues there - was illness at home and had to fly back early.
