Apparently due to the recession the developers have had to pull the development of the Witcher for consoles.
Its sad that such a game has to be pulled due to the lack of funding. The first game had a good story once/IF you could get past the first few levels. Possibly one of the most underrated games on the PC.

Thoughts?

Imo it would never have worked as well as it did on the PC on a console. The game was just too in depth, too many menus to go through, it would have done my nut with a pad.

It's got low system requirements so anyone interested in it should just get it for their PC/Laptop. Tis one of the best western developed RPGs i've ever played and can be picked up for a pittance.

Thats the problem, they were having a lot of bother trying to rework it into a console game.

As i recall it i had a button assigned to each of the number keys as macros to take certain potions depending on battle, there were also up to three spells you could equip, up to two weapon types and three combat styles and then of course the attack button. That's 19 buttons not including the movement ones, most of which i used frequently, just too much to translate down to a pad.

As i stated previously too, there were just too many long menus to navigate, especially when using alchemy.

They have said they are going to continue with the Witcher 2 so its all good for PC owners anyway :)

Its a really good game. You just have to stick with it, because the first few levels are a bit dry lol

The problem with the Witcher was that the fighting was pretty rubbish. Good everything else, crap combat. The console version promised a completely revamped and much improved fighting system and for this alone it'd be a great shame if this version stays canned.

Tried the demo but alas not to my liking.

If the demo was of the first castle mission its probably a really bad example of what the game is capable of lol i thought the start was crap but i was told to keep playing and started to enjoy it more as he got more skills. But yeah the combat is a bit meh
