What's with all the I7's? The I7 was never built for gaming, but boring rendering tasks. OP wants gaming, and the AMD 955 quad is the best for this imo, plus its way cheaper than its quad intel equivalent, and £50 cheaper than the I7

Agree with you, no need for I7 on a gaming rig. Waste of beer money ;)

Hmmm...I have a Core i7 for gaming...and if I am being honest i have noticed an increase in performance...namely with Crysis and COD4...when I was using my AMD 6000 X2 I could darely get 20FPS in Crysis under medium settings...using my Q6600 I was getting mid 20s in FPS with very high settings...on the Core i7 920, I can now get just over 40FPS, with a res of 1920x1200, very high settings with 2xAA.

People can say the i7's were not made for gaming, but I feel in some ways they were...I would rather splash out on an i7 set up for games than just for the likes of Adobe CS4 and what not...cos in all fairness I dont even use those apps. I love my games and I want a system I know that can handle everything I throw at it and also for years to come :D
