I have been having difficulties finding the perfect mouse. I was using a MX518 for years and towards the end of last year it was replaced with a G5 due to wear and tear. The G5 lasted a couple of days before replacing it with a Deathadder as I did not like the tracking. The Deathadder is extremely comfortable but I am having problems with most games recognizing the buttons and I have also been having sensitivity issues in Vista 64 in that turning the dpi settings down makes the mouse unresponsive.

I have bought another MX518 which in my opinion has great tracking and all the buttons work with my games. I have large hands and I rest my palm on the pad and lightly control the mouse with small movements. The problem is it just does not feel comfortable after using the Deathadder for 4 months due to it not being wide enough.

So I am looking for a mouse that is completely problem free in Vista 64, has great tracking and is shaped like a Deathadder (wide) but is not a Razer as there are issues in Vista 64 on my PC.

How about the Mionix Saiph?

The photo of it on ocuk doesn't give too much away but if you have a quick google you'll get more photos plus some reviews too, so you can see what other people think of it.

Would have said go for a Deathadder for the larger handed gamer, had one for years, lovely piece of kit. Im also on Vista 64, but have no probs, have you installed the drivers / firmware correctly or tried a reinstall?

Logitech G9 Gaming-Grade Laser Mouse

Can be had for a great price if you look.
I am an idiot - I am now all hyped for a G9 so on the way home I am going to pick one up from the expensive notorious bad service computer store. I like the idea of 2 separate grips for my huge man hands. You know what they say about big hands .... big mouse.

I hope the tracking is better than the G5. I am going to stick with logitech due to reliable hardware and software.

This will be my third new gaming mouse in 4 months and I will be playing allot of FPS over the weekend, so what the hell. I will give my new MX518 (brilliant mouse for the price) to my nephew.

I reinstalled the drivers a couple of times but for some reason I cannot reinstall the firmware. I have been using x-mouse a utility to assign buttons but it does not always work. I can configure the buttons in the Razer software and they will be recognized in a windows environment but not in a game.

The Deathadder tracking on my old XP PC was an improvement over my MX 518 even though I had the issue with assigning buttons. The tracking in Vista is not that great and when I lower the DPI setting it becomes unresponsive. I bought another MX518 and it works perfect so I don't know what's going on. I miss the Deathadder as it fits my hand like a glove and I love the finish.
