The (pie in the sky) plan is to buy a car for less than £600, drive it to the 'ring and back. Extra man points to be had for- least amount of breakdowns, general coolness of the car and of course best time round the 'ring. Other conditions are: none of the people involved are particularly spanner handy, it would be nice if teeth and kidneys were still intact afterwards, so it should be at least half comfortable, it needs to have MOT at the least, tax would be good.

What would you choose?

Looks pretty tidy! It's a Japanese import BB1.

This has the ~197bhp engine (which ideally must be run on Super Unleaded), as well as the (IMO) excellent 4 wheel steering :)

This sounds fantastic, I really hope it all comes together as it will be a none stop giggle!
How many teams/drivers have you got interested?

Have you considered how you would get home should the worst happen?
This may effect the number of seats required should you need to grab a lift home in your mates car!

I think I'd be very tempted by an old-school BMW, once your on foriegn land there should be plenty of parts & support available & it will look perfect at the Ring! :)

German, Jap or Swedish and you'll have the best chance of getting there and back without major problems.
A word of advice, buy a car less than 16 years old then buy european breakdown cover from Tescos (around £30 IIRC).

Get an old Transit van, strip it out and try to equal Sabine Scmidts time vs Jezza in the diesel Jag - you'll get much kudos for posting a half decent time in one of those - try to enlist a mate in a viper too ;)
