Senna remembered - 15 years on

Kubica crash is the thing that really shows how safe the cars are today, absolutely massive impact and he came away barely hurt.

Remember that day very well for various reasons. Remember listening on a personal radio all that afternoon to see how things were going :(

Thanks for the link.

I still remember that weekend. I was very much into F1 even though it was 15 years ago and I was 10.. Senna was my hero back then and I was absolutely devasted that weekend.

RIP for Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna.

Senna will always be one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time. You know why?

Because he was truly gladatorial in his approach to racing. He could taste victory before the race began. He was an inspiration to a whole generation trhat could never emulate his greatness due to the strangulation of F1 since his demise.

RIP Ayrton.

They found an Austrian flag in Sennas car during Imola after his crash. He had planned to win the race and raise it afterwards in memory of Ratzenberger.

I know. He really cared about his competitors, even though he was the best. Imagine that today.

Never seen that video either, certainly had some guts running back up the track through a cloud of smoke with other cars still coming round the track!!!

Seemed more camaraderie between the drivers in those days......more bitter rivalrys as well but still!! Don't think you'd get moments like that or when Mansell picked Senna up at Silverstone and took him back to the pits these days.

i remember watching the 1994 imola weekend and was really confused why no one knew about it in school the next day, i was 8.

Yep, Senna was a remarkable driver and as Spie said, had full regard and respect for all of his co-competitors, a truly great driver and he'll be missed. R.I.P Ayrton.

2 tributes to the 1988 Season where he won the championship, an amazing season and the one that still stands out in my mind as the best ever.

Looking at his crash though, i didnt seem to tear his car to bits as i have seen in recent years, can anyone tell me exactly what he died from? Was it the speed and his inside smashing against his bones?
Plus why the hell was there no tyres against a brick wall, especially after a crash which killed someone in the same spot.
