Who has SKY HD+?

For me coming from an uber reliable virgin media cable line - it's actually pretty good. I live in the centre of Hertford in a new build (just in case that makes a difference to my line run from the exchange) and I'm hitting 1.53MB/s. It has gone a little higher but I think they're just spikes. So averaging about 14Mbit. It's reliable, not had a drop out but not sure on pings as I don't game.
That's good to know. I live in the centre of Hertford too, in a new build.

I'm planning on getting a Pace box now and thinking ahead I will want to drive two tvs off the one HD box, one upstairs and one downstairs. Assuming the Pace HD only has one HDMI out socket, can anyone here reccommend a suitable HDMI splitter compatible with whatever HDCP protection or whatever there is on there. I would prefer not to have to keep pressing a button to switch, though only one tv should be on at a time. Anyone with any experience of something similar?

I just got Sky+HD installed yesterday, and i got an Amstrad box and I have to say its excellent. Picture quality is great both HD and SD, using it on a panny px80.

I can confirm that my amstrad box allows me to adjust the contrast and is not stuck on high i can select low, med, high.

Quick question, what should i set the output to as at the moment its outputting at 1080i but i there is an option for 720p as well as others, whats the best to use?

How do you rate SD through its HDMI lead compared to you previous Sky+ box?

Didnt have sky+ before, its my first time with sky but comparing it with freeview and my brothers standard sky i can see a noticeable difference in the quality of SD, but i suppose it also depends on your TV.

Did I read somewhere that Sky would waive first years line rental if you took the HD package?

Guys is there some sort of HD offer going on atm?
My mum just got a letter though the post saying she got 5 quid off he line rental and it also said she getting skyhd which she never ordered lol?

if it goes though am going to steal the box and install it in my house next door lol

You have successfully registered to upgrade. We expect you should be able to complete your order in around 3 months.

£49 for the box is the offer. Strange that there is an order through there though lol!

She doesn't have to order. She's been put in the queue but she's under no commitment to buy. I suspect they had to place her in the queue to get the halfprice line rental offer for her. I used to do that for customers but I also explained they'd get letters in the post about HD but to ignore them.

I ordered last week and had the upgrade done on Wednesday. Got the Amstrad box with the duff contrast control. Works fine though, pictures look good.

Sky HD getting installed next week in my new house (called up today and could have got a monday install!)

Anyway - is there REALLY an difference between the make of boxes? If so which one should i request/try to get when installer arrives?
Do you think he would leave me some more cable so that i can run it from the RF2 out to the tv in the kitchen??

fitted yesterday with Amstrad box - all working fine and picture/lip sync etc is absolutely great - no issues at all. Just wish my bloody card would authorise properly!!

Picked up a Pace box from Tesco today for £194. Made them open the box to ensure it was a Pace, and even then they said I could take it back for a refund if the actual unit inside the box wasn't a Pace for whatever reason. I thought it was a good deal, given I know I've got a Pace, and have a full 12 month guarantee unlike most of the boxes on Ebay and don't have to wait 3 months for a fitting. So Tesco is another option if you want to guarantee yourself a Pace.

On the box itself there is a sticker saying "to the enigineer: it is imperative to carry out a software update before call back", I assume this is a forced download, will this be via the hidden menu or is it a hold the buttons down while powering on job? If so could someone remind me how to do this? I take it you do this, then you ring up sky and get them to change your subscription to HD? (already have sky+)

No offence, but why pay £194 for just the box when it costs £199 for the box and a full years subscription to the hd pack directly from sky? Sure you may not get a Pace, but is it really worth that price for a box and only the free HD channels?

Especially as the only 'bad' box is the Thomson, which they shouldn't be giving new customers anyway.
