This thread is really aimed at those who have had the NV 3D vision bundles delivered today or have seen it at a various show. Out of interest, what do you all think?

I'm really am impressed.

It has been a long time since any piece of hardware for my pc has done something so different.
Installation was simple, just ran the exe, 1 automatic reboot, then it automatically setup the rest.

I do feal like I'm come off a fair ground ride.. not nauseous, but I do feal my senses have had a little work out. There is 100% no visible flicker whatsoever.

I just posted this in the other thread...
It is excellent. ! I'm one happy chap.

1) Nvidia test application. This is nuts.. It's just a 1 screen crappy demo, but the NV logo comes right out of the screen and floats about 1 foot in front of it, super sharp no issues. I showed a client who was here to drop some files off, he laughed at me when I said I had just got 3D glass's.. he was converted to a fan in 1 min.. doing the cliche' reaching out in front of him trying to touch the object.

2) Left for dead, only spent 10 mins playing, the depth is really nice, I'm not used to playing on anything so crisp, had a crt and VA panel monitor before.
Having blood etc shoot towards you when you take a zombie out with the shotgun is great fun.

3) HL2 EP1, This really does shine, I spent the first min just amazed at the extra depth. The little environmental floating particles in the air are all at different depths, its a beautiful effect, like when it snows. The grav gun shows perfectly, looking down the "barrel" is crazy.

4) CSS, in 3D Depth works a treat, however I didn't sort out a extra cross-hair, which is needed in some games with 3dvision, so I wasn't exactly accurate.
With 3D off. Fantastic.. Soo incredibly smooth, I think for super fast action precision fps games, the 120fps will be awesome.

How do i assemble the monitor? The base of it...? Seems a huge struggle to get it in there.
edit: i mean fittin the base into the hole on the underside of the monitor.. Not an easy task at all.

Really sounds like were at the pinnacle of something special with these 3d glasses, guess we all been hearing about it and assuming its a fud technology but way I see it if its different and allowing us too see and play games in a different and weird and new way surely its a winner !?

Figured it straight after i wrote the above lol... Opinion on this bundle..

Monitor better than my previous as I had the worst of the lottery of the panels on my 226bw. Now the 3D glasses/effect in games - L4D looks funky I must say, TF2 is pretty terrible, GF2 looks better. Are they worth the price? In a word.... NO (edit) The test app from nv is seriously good (effect wise), if games start to be as good as that then, i'll be pleased.

We do these things tho lol

3D drunk test.

It's 1am I've been down the pub all night, wait! hey it's Friday night and it's all relevant. It's what we do.. come back after a good night with the friends (who were particularly rude about my newly acquired 3D glasses. Sigh.. little do they know...) then maybe have a quick game before bed. (if no luck with the ladies)

Anyway I thought, If I'm seeing double now.. what will stereoscopic vision be like ? 2 eyes seeing double, 2 + 2 = 4 :D.. crazy.. Not so lucky, I cant unfortunately witness the 4th dimension.

The 3D still works as before, but now as a bonus instead on having to concentrate to keep things steady, everything is now clear again, 3DVision is the ultimate drunkenness cure. 2 images blend into 1 - immense. It's the future I tell you!

Bless firefox's spell auto spell check, the amount of red underlined words is ridiculous....

a 3D 120hz 24".... yes yes im very interested :)

is there going to be a greater variety of 3D 120hz screens to choose from?

You'll struggle with fps on a 24" with a 8800GT using the 3D Vision with maxed out gfx settings or high end. I've seen a massive decrease on TF2, to around a constant 30 to 60fps, was gettin around 140 to 200 before.

cool! I saw these come out - good to hear they seem to work!

I've seen the Samsung and the LG monitors - any recommendations between them? (also are there any other options?)

sorry to kinda hi-jack the thread a bit but i was just wondering, i already have a T260HD, which looks very very similar to the 3d version, any way i would get this working with one of the 3d kits? the technology looks pretty awesome and im gutted i didnt wait before getting a new monitor now :p

Unfortunately, although the T260HD is a great monitor, it has a standard 60hz refresh, and is not suitable for 3D. 3D vision only supports TRUE 120hz displays.
No other TV's claiming todo 120/200/300 etc Hz can actually do it properly its done by fake interpolation methods. So all these nice Sony Bravias etc are not compatible, as they cannot accept a source over 60hz.

We are currently very limited in the UK to which screens are available.
Samsung 2233RZ
Samsung 42-inch PN42A450P Plasma
Samsung 50-inch PN50A450P Plasma
Unfortunately although these plasmas provide a stunning picture, reports are that they struggle to change fast enough in 3D mode, leaving a slight image residue resulting in a slight ghosting effect. - These 2 models are a few years old now and pretty common.
Any Good old CRT monitor, should work too.

In The USA they have many more options. Larger HD TV displays which accept 120hz + have a internal processing chip to enable them to be 3D ready by a chequerboard interlacing method.

Mitsubishi laser view DLPs - 57-inch WD-57833 65-inch WD-65833 73-inch WD-73833
Will cost you £5,000+ huge import/support issues. - No uk release dates. I've checked.

Samsung DLP
Bigger range from 52-72"'s - newer ones use a LED System so no bulbs.
Will cost £2,000+ huge import/support issues. Not due to be released in the uk.

Viewsonic VX2265wm - pretty much the same as the Samsung 2233RZ.. - It doesn't look like this will be available in the UK until the autumn, or not at all.

Viewsonic PJD6220-3D Projector - a DLP projector which uses the same chequerboard method. - will cost around $1500. no UK release date, probabbly the same time as the monitor.

Also available internationally are compatible insanely priced 3D projectors which cost the same as a house.. - great if you want your own imax cinema.

yeh yeh i need a few upgrades before i even think about going 3D lol :)

Just checkin around this bad boy kit is £400 smackers !

$400 in US however so baffeled at the very least .... cos that means its under £300 once converted?

This kit really looks like its not worth more then £300 imo...otherwise mighta been an option too buy really but at £400 tad too pricey imo.

It's $600 for the full kit. Monitor $400, Glasses $200.
UK.. Monitor approx£270, glasses kit approx£130

It all works out the same.. rarely do we get to pay the same price, we are getting a fair deal.

man I'm really wanting to upgrade our home cinema projector to one that's both HD and 3d compatible and then play 7 foot, 3d games!

Any timescales for this? ;)
