Would you spend £40k on one of these ?

I don't know.

What I'm trying to say is rear wheel drive cars have much more grip so should get to 60 much faster than an equal power to weight fwd car but after that they would be the same, the fwd may even be quicker due to less transmission loss.

This rover is 320bhp and weight is 1540 Kgs, theoretical 1/4 mile would be 13.5 at 105, my Civic ran 13.9 @ 108 while spinning through 1st and 2nd, the higher terminal speed would indicate that the Civic would have a chance of catching the Rover further on. Rover top speed is 165, My Civic would make 155 at least but limited by gearing.

Anyway this car is no way worth £40k imo.

What bhp/torque figures does your civic put out?

I don't own it any more but it was 200whp and 150lb/ft atw. That was at 11psi, once rolling it was a little quicker than an Evo 6.

I also ran it at 15psi for a week, I can only estimate power then, probably 270bhp at least. T3/T04e turbo good for 350bhp and engine was built to stand 400bhp.

Right hand drive variants like that tend to come from Australia, as importation of non-vintage (i.e. less than 30 years old) LHD vehicles is illegal - so they must be converted :)

I have to agree with everyone else that this car would not be my choice of £40k.

I like the SV and MG and the potential for it to be a more exclusive muscle car. I like the looks with the spoiler, I like the noise. the performance can be sorted! The flaw is that metallic red and some of the other colours do not suit it.

However for £40k there is a lot of choice, if I still wanted odd ball/exclusive I would be buying an Esprit V8 or and NSX or something. Other than that there are plenty of Jags/TVRs/Astons by the looks of things!

Agreed, still too much money. At the end of the day, the best part of it is probably the engine, and you can get that in a Mustang at half the price.
Whilst you might argue that the body is made of CF, but it's hardly as though it was to save weight. At over 1.5 tons, weighs more than my E46, and that's a lard bucket.
More importantly, just who are you going to ask to repair the bodywork, the first time some chav misses their braking and rear ends it.
