Grand Theft Auto 4

Picked this up earlier today..But could use a little bit of help.

Is there anyway whatsoever to be able to use a PS3 controller for this or any other standard PC control pad?

Ive looked around and PS3 control pad drivers wont work at all and it just wont let me use any other pads, any help appreciated.

Could try this if you don't have a 360 pad :- http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=379477

Just thought I'd post a little "loading time reduction hint" that may or may not have been posted before.

When the game is going through it's seemingly endless loading sequence (you know the one - the slideshow of the fancy artwork of different characters, and the now annoying music). Just press your 'home' button to access the Games For Windows menu, keep it popped-up, and your game should load up at about 5x the speed.

It does for me anywho. Give it a whirl, you've got nothing to lose.

Cheerio.

Just thought I'd post this again (after sitting through the loading screen)

Currently finding GTA IV online unplayable due to kiddies spawning tug boats during races.

Same here, abusive language was a plenty the other night when I lost 2nd place because of it

oh, and thanks for the user who posted up the Fast Load tip.. I shall try shortly :D

Hmm, well patch worked kind of well for me, improved loading times and a bit more fps. Though it does seem to stutter after playng for a while when you move the camera close to the car sometimes now which is a shame. :(

Seems to be running ok with new patch. Did a benchmark.

Thinking about getting this game, but there are a lot of people saying its crap.

I am wondering whether I'd be able to run it smoothly on my i7 920 @ 4ghz and a gtx 260 SSC running at 1920x1200 res with maximum settings?

It costs £25 but if its not going to run well I might as well play the san andreas multiplayer for online play.

Its going to run smooth as butter on that i7, those CPU's love the game. You wont be running it on max settings as you need 2GB of vRAM for that, but it will run pretty much all on high. Your comp will chew this game up :)

Bugged Interview Mission

I'm on my second play through now, after putting it to one side for a few months.

I currently appear to have got stuck (as in bugged, not my useless playing skills) on the mission where you are tasked to kill the lawyer. I've completed Stage One which is to buy a suit and decent shoes from the upmarket clothes shop. I get the phone text reminder that the interview time is close, however no mission icon appears on the map. I've been to the law firm's office but the door is sealed and there is no interaction available with the intercom, which when I played before you use to get buzzed in. I've stood outside beyond the supposed time for the interview but nothing happens. Now waiting for a new appointment to see if the same thing happens again - if so then the game is borked and I can't advance any further - it's not an optional mission.

Anyone else had this? I installed the latest patch a couple of days before reaching this point, so could it be that has nerfed the mission?

I'm not sure any computer would run this completely smoothly with everything on maximum.

However you don't need everything on maximum to enjoy the game - there is absolutely no need for instance to have the view distance and detail distance at 100 - it looks fine down at around 20-30.

With that graphics card you should be able to get it running smoothly with most of the settings on high, which is more than good enough.

The game is most definitely not crap.

i couldn't play it without the detail distance up it just looked rubbish. i'd agree the game isn't crap but it feels like a step backwards compared to the other games, game play wise..
