Hello,

The RX8 haters should probably ignore this thread but for anyone thats interested.....:D Anyway, long boring story short, the original rx8 I bought apparently died while it was still under going testing with the dealer. Not good I thought. They phoned me and told me that the car was not fit to sell and that all they could do was give me a refund. Aha I thought! This is fate saying "don't buy and RX8, go for the audi or 350z"!!!!

I went to the dealer on friday afternoon to collect my deposit mulling over the last few words I'd had with the sales person. "We've got a real stunner coming in this afternoon". I went to the dealer and saw a most wonderful site. An 07 RX8 Nemesis with 12000 and one owner and full service history in pristine condition. After some negotiation (got a 1000 pounds off the price and 3500 for my mondeo) I bought the thing.

Test drive was excellent and the interior is just special. Anyway, hope this inspires others to take a wee chance and go with their gut. :D Pick it up tomorrow so no piccies at the mo. Its moody blue btw. Thanks for all the previous opinions!

Peace

Nice, even after the other thread its nice to see you havent given in and taken all the (sometimes misguided) advice. Though the thought of a 350z over the RX8 is far more appealing to me. But it's what you like at the end of the day, hope it makes you happy.

I'm looking forward to the pictures! I once went into my local dealership to get a Mazda3 MPS brochure and they had a white 40th Anniversary Edition, I took a lot of persuading not to go back and take it out for a drive!

I'll look forward to the pictures. Always liked the RX8's i think they look hawt! Only downfall is the running costs. (And needing the rev the engine to get something out of it)

Lol, there are melons everywhere. At least they found the problem before it was sold to me fully. This car is much younger and in pristine condition. I dont have any pics at the moment, but this is pretty much what it looks like:

I'm getting rid of my 8 after just short of 12 weeks on Wednesday. It's been brilliant fun, but it's killing me a bit. £200 a month in petrol. Switching to a 140bhp A3 diesel.

You will definitely enjoy it in the short term, though, as I have done.

Misguided?

The car he was buying didnt even make it off the forecourt before it died!

How was anybody to know that would happen ? certainly nobody on here who havent even seen the car in the flesh. From what I remember there were some very negative comments on the previous thread, basically informing the OP that he had bought a complete pile of poo. They are good cars and cant realy be faulted, besides the higher than normal running costs (which arent that bad). Also a lot of that cost will be recovered in the lower price he pays for the car.

Its the 192 ps. not that bothered about the higher power version. The first car was in very good condition but an 04. When I test drove it, there were no problems. The problem manifest when the mechanic took it over 6500 rpm. These things happen, thats why we have checks. We'll see how i get on with it. Its got four usable seats as well and that was actually a major influence in my decision. I take my dad shopping on a friday afternoon and out to lunch sometimes. Needs to be room for him and the GF :D

I took one of these out before buying my ST. Was a nice car, the only thing that really put me off is the running costs and some horror stories about reliablity.

I hope it works out for you as they are very pretty and a laugh to drive.

I thought about the ST but I've had four Fords previously and wanted a radical change. Actually I'd a have bought a Radical if they were road legal :D There's just sometihng very special about beign behind the wheel of an rx8. Feels right. I love Fords and will no doubt buy another at some point. Excellent cars.

£200pm in fuel is nothing really. I mean, that's what, £50pw. I was spending that on a diesel a few years ago. If your mileage is something like 200miles a month, then fine, that is bad, but just saying the cost and giving no other information means your point is irrelevant.

Coincidently, I'm spending £200pm in fuel at the moment, but that's on 1500miles a month.
