Suggestions for 40/42" LCD/Plasma TV

I assume you are some sort of TV salesman/work in a showroom, well done you. Suffice to say, the best LCD that I have seen beats the best Plasma, it's called opinion ;)

Like I have said, you are the only one harping on about fanbois this and that, and rubbihing peoples posts with one word answers like 'rubbish'.

I am certainly not a salesman and have more knowledge and experience than most of them, which isn't hard.

Have a read around on avforums and hdtvtest, the reviewers and calibrators with many years experience must be wrong also, maybe you should contact some of the ISF calibrators and have a chat. If they can't teach you the error of your ways then I'm afraid all hope is lost.

This doesn't really deserve a response but seeing as you are so "well-balanced", and give e-love (gay points) out so easily, I though I'd better write a few words.

Sorry you are not an advocate of gay e-love, may I suggest you send a complaint into watchdog, or contact the gay foundation to register your concerns.

Mine hinted at them being no different, not plasmas being indestructable :P

Indeed, but my hint would also give the same answer for both techs: ERROR :D:D:D

Engineers ;)

fair enough. ive no problem blowing your argument apart whenever you recommend an inferior display based on 'i prefer LCDs' and 'plasma arent built as well'.

so go ahead, keep posting that nonsense.

Your quote "of mine" is a clear indication of your insanity/childishness. No Pulitzer prize for you :(

Very boring now.

Panasonic X10 or the PZ80 if you can get a hold of one as it's rare now, both are wiser choices above the others listed.

In what way was I wrong? I can quite happily back up everything I've said, I just don't feel the need to be childish about it, I have provided a video to disprove that plasmas are much more fragile than LCDs, and I could also mention stuff like rated lifespan, native (not dynamic) contrast ratios etc, I have already commented that LCDs have some beneficial traits, as do Plasmas. Its all much of a muchness however and you seem quite content to troll now, for a 30 year old (or that's what your profile says) you're not exactly acting in a mature fashion. Still if that's what you enjoy...

I'm convinced by spitzoid. He speaks the truth!

I'm selling my PZ50 and PX42 and replacing it with my old Hitachi CRT.
Replacing my PS3 with my Sony VHS from the attic.
Downsizing my 5.1 system to 2.0 mono.

Anything else.......?.....Oh ye, deactivating my SkyHD and going back to analogue.

ALL coming to a classified section near you soon!

Its the future y0!

Anyone who disagrees can direct they anger, frustration to spitzoid's inbox.

PS. Getting rid of my Wii and replacing it with a Commoder64 and playing Chucky Egg or Grannies Garden once again!!!

Oh what wit. You should be on the stage.

Spitziod, could you either act a bit more grown up, or keep out of this thread if you cannot add something moreconstructive than your previous few posts.

Brilliant thread to read :D

I have been spoilt, whenever I see another TV i think the picture is crap. Pio 5090 on a V+box is a great benchmark. Even my A656 looks poo :(

I have a very unbiased opinion too

Honestly, some people have no manners. I tell Spitzoid that the most important thing is that he liks his TV, agreeing with him that it's all about opinion and personal perference and he has a go at me. Nice.

Nah, he's replacing the Kuro :p

Love the stand too, Ikea LACK bookshelf on its side ?

The samsung is my bedroom TV and yeah its an IKEA lack on its side.

Just set them up side by side when i moved in to show a mate the difference between a 'good' LCD and a Kuro on some HD material. The Kuro blew him away.

Ill update it soon, looks much nicer now the Skyplus box has been replaced with a V+box. I do need to add some black material at the back of the unit to hide the wires and fill in the space where you can see the wall.

I recently went from a Toshiba C3030 LCD, to a Panasonic PZ80 plasma, and in all honestly I was gobsmacked at the difference. I and anyone in the family, for the last 18 months, thought the Toshiba was fantastic, even better than my old Sanyo CRT, which is saying a lot. I was completely blown away and shocked when the Panasonic arrived, suddenly the LCD had some HUGE faults that nobody had seen before. The black level (which I always thought was overhyped beforehand), and the smoother motion with no blurring on the plasma is just amazing. Any family members who have visited have been blown away by the plasma, the in-laws (who won't usually spend a penny) went out 2 days later and bought the same Panasonic as ours. I do think LCD has it's place and in certain situations is better, and it does seem to be improving all the time. However if you just want the best picture you can get, especially on a bigger screen, do yourself a favour and just go and buy a plasma.

Haha this thread has some comedy. No names mentioned ;)

Turbo - G:

I strongly advise you to go for the TH42PZ80B. Panasonic Plasmas are very good value for money. I have the TH42PZ85, which replaced the TH42PZ80B.

This TV has absolutely blown me away. It was my first Plasma, having previously had an LCD as main, now in the bedroom.

I advise you to not listen to the LCD imposing comments. I am a media/TV professional, having worked all over the world in TV as a creative, technical and now at Senior Consulting level. I have the experience and knowledge to judge a reference high quality picture, however also accept it is highly subjective.

There is a reason Panasonic has won so much acclaim in the last years; they make superb TV's.
