Physx Card? - I don't know which one it is

^^As above....even when they were being manufactured and sold, they were pointless.

PhysX itself is also still a waste of time. If you have a modern Nvidia card you can run it on there anyway.

8600GT 256MB minimum, anything lower than that will actually slow down your main card when playing PhsyX enabled games.

Good budget PhysX card (if you are intent on getting one) is the 9500GT, can run passive, low power usage so isn't going to fill your case with heat, won't break the bank, doesn't need any external power.

The 'best' card to use is a 9600GT, anything past that you don't really see much more benefit for your money outlay.

I woulnt use anything slower then a 9600GT tbh. (unless you have slower then 260 as your main card)

And if you have a 280 or 285, then you prob won't see even benifit from having physX on a seprate card (not including certen 3d benchmarks). There is plenty of headroom for PhysX + normal graphics to run, and will run very quickly at that !

Anything 8600GT+ actually speeds up your main card.

I have a heavily OC'd GTX260-216 and running Cryostasis with and without my 9500GT doing the PhysX work there is a good few fps difference.

(Just to note I had the 9500GT as my backup card and I didn't go out to buy it especially for physX, so thought I might as well get some use out of it while it isn't needed)

So using the dedicated card even with a high end GPU will give you a reasonable improvement.

My 9500GT runs physx just fine. The only physx game I've played has been Mirror's Edge, but I noticed no slowdown with a 4870 primary and 9500GT for physx.

Here's a mirror:

That said, you can just copy/paste the image location into a new window.

I got a Physx card on the ridiculously cheap, it stopped working a few Physx drivers ago, seemed like NVIDIA just completely dropped them. It's now just taking up a PCI slot until I cba to bin it.

You have to use the 8 series driver. Currently the 9 series stop the PPU working. I am awaiting nVidia's response to this problem.

Well, i won't be getting it now lol, i was going for the GTX 295 with the Classified motherboard... sooo... i thought it would make some kinda difference.. guess not :D

Yeah wouldn't bother if you are getting a 295, you'll have more than enough GPU grunt to spare.

Is it really worth having Ati 4800 series card running along side a nvidia card for physx compared to on its own?
