After having an interview last week they want me to go in and meet the MD of the company. He said in the interview that if the MD doesnt get on with the person being employed then you wont get employed!

If it all goes well, what questions do i need to ask apart from the following?

(I didnt ask this before because i can always turn it down if the hours are stupid and i have to work saturdays)

What the pay is?
Hours?
Break allowance?
Will i be expected to work some weekends?
Dress code?

If they are on the stock market find out the most up to date info you can (our MD loves that)

Don't ask any of those things that you have put there ^ apart from dress code

Find as much out about the company as you can and ask relevant questions

Talk to him proper (like). But have a chat.
Research the company and ask him about new ventures there doing and stuff like that.

Who would you report to?
Is overtime paid?
Flexitime?
Pension contributions?
Holiday entitlement?
Company car?
Seat on the board?

If someone came in to speak to me and asked these questions for anything but the most junior / brain dead role I would not be impressed. It's your chance to shine and show an interest in the company, not an opportunity to look like a whiner who only cares about breaks and time commitments!

Don't jump stright to asking pay/time off/Extra work, as although these questions are valid, asking them straight up will give the MD the impression that all you are here for is to make as much money for as little work as possible. As said above, look into the company. Ask to be shown around, find out procedure, almost like you're settling in even before you have the job. Looking interested will get you paid!

I'd leave the pay thing until they make you an offer or ask you first.

All the other stuff is probably not stuff you should be asking the MD - speak to the HR bint or clear up trivial **** like this before you get to the second interview.

If I was talking to the MD I wouldn't ask any of that.

I'd be asking where the company was going, what opportunities there would be in the future and how he saw my career progression.

Someone else can answer the other stuff.

Why would the MD know minute details like your break allowance (Assuming you're not applying for some sort of upper-executive position)? Check the stock market for up to date information, be aware of the company's history etc. Ask the MD what his vision for the company is and make it clear that you can fit into that.

The questions you've suggested should have been asked in the first interview or should be obtained by contacting HR.

Talk to him as if you would do anyone else. He is a MD so still human.

Don't ask him any of the moronic questions listed above. As has been said before, this is your opportunity to impress :)

Turn it around, if you were the MD what kind of questions would you expect to be asked?

I had to do this last year, because I apparently aced the first interview and the MD wanted to meet me before the second round of interviews. We basically just talked about the nitty-gritty stuff about what I'd be working on, some of the company history and products, what the MD himself actually did, why they needed someone like me. It was quite informal. I did NOT ask about pay, hours, tea breaks, etc because I didn't much care at that point.

I got offered the job. I turned it down in favour of a better one. :D

Ive already had the interview and done my research about the company. I think it will just be a chat to see if i generally get on with him. The hours and everything else i have listed were not questions to ask them really, more what i need to get told. (but not by the MD thinking about it)

Anyway thanks all. Got some good things to look into

What job is it?

To be honest, in my opinion it completely depends what kind of company it is and what kind of character the MD is.
