Im running a Q6600 on an ASUS P5K-VM. From everything I have been seeing 3.6ghz should be completely possible with this motherboard. Now I am ruing 3.2GHz 400x8 AUTO (prime95 stable) but if I OC to 3.6GHz 400x9 v1.537 prime95 fails after 30sec approximately also i notice a big vdroop cpu-z idle is v1.46 and load (prime95) v1.32. Also I didn’t change the timings on ram, the ratio is 1:1.

Just looking for some feedback on what Vcore and what settings I need to use in order achieve 3.6 prime95 stable.

First of all, you need to vdroop mod your motherboard.

wich is pritty simple, all you need is a pencle or if your bios has load line calibration wich is basicly the same thing.

then try to set your overclock again.

How many RAM sticks mate?

2 sticks of 2gb OCZ Gold in my P5Q - Auto settings + 400X8 1:1 = 3.6ghz nearly stable for me - wet itself in Prime 95.

4x2gb = can't get it up to 3.2 on auto. I'm guessing the four RAM chips are sucking more voltage but haven't had a chance to really play with it yet.

What's your full spec, sir? mobo, case, RAM, number of fans, the lot...

I have my Q6600 at 3.57GHz which is the most stable it can get with just 4GB RAM...the second I put in another 4GB it wouldnt display anything on the screen so I did a CMOS clear...and tried to OC with 8GB...couldnt go higher than 3.2GHz so I removed the extra 4GB and went back to 3.57GHz. I am going to use the other 4GB sticks in another machine soon :D

Hmm. What a terribly tempting idea. I am enjoying having 8Gb of RAM here though...

Must look at building a silent, OpenFiler based file server with a cheap chipset that takes full size DDR2 RAM seeing as RAM is cheap however ;)

[open to suggestions, would need a case that can take 4x3.5" SATA, 1XPCI or PCI-E x 4 for the SATA RAID card, onboard GPU would be fine, and a PSU...;)]

I found the resistor that I have to shade with pencle but I am not sure how safe is this procedure.
