AMD overclocks new Phenom II X4 to 7 GHz

Just read that the limiting factor on this overclock was not the cpu, but how much voltage they could get to it from the motherboard lol. They had to run underclocked graphics card and memory to keep as much power as possable spare for the CPU.

They need a better custom made 'extra volts' motherboard before they can hit the magic 8ghz :p

on another site is saying the 7ghz is faked
* Franck (the author of CPUz) has mentioned that CPUz 1.51 has cheat security issues with AM3 cpus.
* The users that these scores come from (especially, qooitry) have already been spotted cheating on various occasions.
* A couple of days ago a SuperPi 1M score of 9.406s at 6840MHz was submitted to ripping.org. Now this score is deleted (I will see if I get a link from the cache), but it obviously had cheat software icons on the desktop (such as cheat_super_pi_mod.exe posted by hipro a couple of years ago). Massman can confirm this.

yea i posted before watching the video, thats when i realised it was different.

*NOTE TO SELF* read article first.

But is it prime stable? lol.

Until it's something that can be achieved at a users home on a reasonable budget, I'm not impressed...

I also agree that water will never be the mainstream...

Does anyone else have thoughts about what kind of explosion a pc will make when cooling with helium and nitrogen and it goes wrong?

How could it go wrong? If it did, they are not explosives and not under pressure when cooling the cpu/gpu.
