This guy will get found, be proven to be innocent, but also proven to be Very Ugly. poor bugger

Picture of a skellington?

It took me a while to realise what you were talking about, I thought you were talking a bout a person for a moment.
I've never quite understood why some people refer to a skeleton as a skellington, is it just a product of bad pronunciation while growing up?

Arrgh. Literally just the other day I was discussing with a friend about stuff we are glad we don't hear about anymore (following on a news article about the 'credit crunch'). And this was the one that got on our nerves the most.

Really, I do wish the parents would just give it a rest. It's an awful shame something has happened to their daughter but COME ON, it was 2 years ago. Even if someone did see her in the street, do you really think you'd take a second look and think "OMG it's Madeline!" ?. I wish they would just give it a rest and try to move on with their lives, and let the general public move on too.

Personally it seems to me that the Mccanns are releasing new images every six months or so to deflect suspicion away from themselves

What suspicion? They've been cleared as suspects.

and to keep the money rolling in to the campaign funds as well as money rolling in from interviews with Oprah

You do realise that the parents have no access to the money in the fund, don't you? And that all monies released from the fund must first be authorised by a board of controllers with no connection to the family?

Not while there's money to be made.

I imagine they harbour a firm belief that it'll be released to them at some point.

Since the money they made was through charity (I'd imagine), is there any way of finding out what that money went on, other than paying off their mortgage?

Silencing the kidnappers? Classic cycle - pay someone to get rid of their kid so they can make money through publicity; the kidnappers then threatened to oust them so they had to make more publicity in order to pay them off.

No, I don't genuinely believe this happened. But it would be amusing.

And where has it been said that the money from the Oprah interview was paid into the charity? and i believe the board of controllers of said charity are friends of the mccanns? (the scouse woman (Ester Mcvey?) has certainly said she was in the past)

It is being used, at least partially, to pay their mortgage though, isn't it? One of the main aims of the fund is to financially support Kate and Gerry McCann by paying their mortgage, property rental in Portugal and so on..

I do wonder how long they're going to stay in Portugal.

Two mortgage payments in 2007, but that is all.

Wiki:

A fund-raising company, known as Madeleine's Fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned, was launched in Leicester on 16 May 2007. The Fund is a limited company, not a registered charity, because its objectives are not wide enough to satisfy Charity Commission criteria for UK charities.

The objectives include helping the extended family with their expenses (to prevent abuse, payments can only be authorised by the independent members of the board who are not family members) and continuing the investigation independently should that prove necessary. Any excess funds would be used to help search for other abducted children.

The Fund's website reportedly received 58 million hits and 16,000 messages of support by 18 May, only two days after its launch. Over £1,095,000 had been raised by 30 October 2007. Two £2,000 monthly re-payments on the McCanns' mortgage were made from the Fund in July and August [2007].

I do wonder how long they're going to stay in Portugal.

They returned to the UK in September 2007. Gerry McCann resumed his employment in October 2007.

I wasn't aware that it had to be.

Some are friends, yes. And it seems that two are family members:

11. I've heard the directors are members of Madeleine's family. Is this true?
Two of the directors, Brian Kennedy and John McCann, are members of Madeleine's family. The other five directors are independent appointments. They were appointed to ensure the Board of Directors had independence and the range of skills required to manage the Fund.

12. But surely family members shouldn't be directors because the Fund is set up to support the family?
It is true that family members, including those on the Board, can benefit from the Fund. However, the Fund has a conflict of interest policy to manage this situation. Those directors who are members of Madeleine's family cannot vote in discussions relating to payments to family members. They also cannot sign cheques payable to themselves or other members of the family. The only exception to this was some small initial payments to family members made before the independent directors had signed the bank mandate.

Source.

(the scouse woman (Ester Mcvey?) has certainly said she was in the past)

McVey resigned and was replaced by Edward Smethurst.

I wonder how many houses they own ?

seriously it has gone on for long enough......

Every time the media lose interest, magically something "ground breaking" happens in the case.

Does it? I can't think of any groundbreaking developments in the past 12 months. Has this case actually progressed at all? Not that I can see.

Does it matter?

Of course it matters. If they do have more than one home wouldn't you think that they'd sell the others and put the money into looking for their Daughter. Of course, that's assuming that I'm wrong and that they didn't kill her, accidentally or otherwise.
