Got a Megane that needs a new tyre and the others are looking a bit worn.

Is there a way to work out what other sizes are possible as ther tyres in the size seem a bit crap for choice

I'd try 195/50/15, although it's getting quite hard to find decent tyres in this size now. It's causing me trouble trying to get quality rubber for my Integra :(

Continental Premium Contact 2
Goodyear Eagle NCT5
Firestone F700

There's quite a good selection of decent tyres at that size on blackcircles.co.uk

Wider tyres might upset the handling.

There have been no decent premium sports tyres released in 195/50/15 for a good while now. Not many modern cars use this size on their sporty models and therefore most of the stuff available now is either an old design, cheap tatty Korean Woosang Dark horse stuff or economy / hard wearing related.

Tell me about it. I'd give my left...er, not leg...I need that...my left pinky finger nail for a pair of RE010's :D

Hankook RS2's come highly recommended though. (stiff tyre wall)

RE010s still exist, they just require a huge amount of digging about to find someone that has some left in stock. I think i'm going to try a set of Hankook RS2s next, although i'd have prefered somehting like the new Bridgestone RE-11, they'll never release a 15 inch version :(

I don't think Muffin is looking for performance tyres on his Megane. You're talking about performance tyres for track/spirited road driving. Whereas I think Muffin needs his tyres for daily normal useage.

Nobody is suggesting performance tyres to him  We're talking about performance tyres to go on another car, nobody suggested he should fit some to the Megan.

I've just picked up a pair of Toyo Proxes 195/50/15 for £66 delivered from Camskill. Corsa seems to be eating the Kuhmo stuff (which lasted forever on the 306, odd)

Blackcircles have T1-R's at £33 a corner, Michelin Pilots at £53 a corner for 195/50/15.

Neil, I was pointing out that you were discussing tyre choices which weren't helping the OP.

thanks for the advice - yeah it's for someone elses Megane, she's not a racer but I don't want to suggest a ditch finder for her. should fo been more clear - all advise welcomed though :)

What are TR1's like, good?

I see the TR1's at £30 now on camskill so £75 for two delivered - how much is a tyre fitting in reality to obv include blancing? £15 for two tyres?

Also if theres 195/50/15 on the front and 185/55/15 on the back, will there be an issue?

You fail at maths :p £66.70 for 2 delivered. (because that's what it says in the email they sent me on tuesday when i ordered some :D)

We fit for a fiver a corner if you bring your own tyres in. £15 for a pair should be easy enough to find, just ring around.

According to the calculator on carbibles ..
..when your speedo reads 70mph, you're actually travelling at 68.99mph

Considering that speedos read high anyway, it might even bring it back to being accurate!

The rolling radius is all but identical. Just be sure to match the tyres across the axle.

My 195/55R15 tyres are even worse, fortunately there is a tyre in the list that I like. And they're about 50% more expensive than 195/50R15.
