Hi all,

As I'm having a nightmare with my current ISP's connection (Enta reseller) I am looking to jump ship. Is anyone else with BeThere and are they any good? I'm a bit nervous about my land line being mucked up as I'd like this to stay with BT if poss...

I have no clue what's out there as I've not kept up with developments on the ADSL scene, so advice would be much appreciated :)

Always use bt here, haven't had too many problems and if any arose they were sorted pretty quick. No clue on other ISP's I am afraid.

yep do it m8,i went from enta (aquiss) to bepro difference is amazing migrating was very simple and no fuss.
My speed has never changed since day 1 constant 14mb :) obviously your speeds will vary depending where you are situated but my experence has been nothing but superb since february 09.

Be provide a good speed and price, however if you have line problems their customer service/tech help is lousy you get more help from other members on their forums than you do their techies.

The migration was a touch messy for me as one of the engineers cocked something up in the cabinet, but since then I've been very happy (about 18 months now). There were some general routing issues early on which affected quite a lot of people, but these have all been resolved afaik and there have been no major issues for months now. No download limits/throttling during peak times or traffic shaping at all that I'm aware of either.

Getting in touch with tech support can be a bit weird - I think they're based in Eastern Europe somewhere, but you can open tickets etc. from a web form, and also make changes such as switching to fastpath (better for gaming but slightly less stable) direct from the web page and it will take effect immediately. As mentioned above, the best place to get technical advice is from other members on their forums. Tech support is generally a last resort.

All in all I'd definitely recommend them.

Some good feedback.. what are pings like for you lot to UK game servers?

Does going with Be effectively mean that BT are cut out of the whole situation?

Been with them for 2 years, no problems here.

Pings to UK game servers are great, usually around 15-25. You have an option on your account page to turn on 'Gaming Mode' which gave me a good reduction to my ping times.

Same here - I'm not set to Gaming Mode so my pings are around 25-35 to UK servers.

BT still own the physical wires to your house (which is probably where most of the line faults occur) but the equipment in the cabinet belongs to Be.

Quick tip - find a replacement for the BeBox modem/router they supply. It isn't the best piece of kit in the world. Keep hold of it though - it's useful as a backup and I think you have to return it when you leave.

the Bebox is just plain sucky.. nice sync speeds but doesnt matter what i try its never stable enough :/

Be provide a good speed and price, however if you have line problems their customer service/tech help is lousy you get more help from other members on their forums than you do their techies.

That was my opinion up until recently, my line kept dropping out every 10 seconds so i called support and they had me sorted <10mins, was nicely supprised actually!

I went from Enta to Bethere Pro in August. Was a good move. The Bebox is rubbish, hate its UI but can maintain a night sync for weeks at a time (1meg less throughput than a day sync). I now have it in fully bridged mode with a Cisco 2611XM router.

I have only used the customer service though webnotes to ask for interleaving to be turned off and Annex M to be enabled. They were prompt at actioning this.

It's at the bottom right of the Member Centre, under the heading "Profile Change". Should be under the "Send SMS for..." part.

My experience has basically already been said here and in other threads. The BeBox is pretty dire (although better than some routers I could mention), the tech support is in Bulgaria and their English could be best be described as variable.

On the other hand, it's pretty stable (although that's 99% down to Openreach and internal wiring), as fast as ADSL2+ can be and they do some funky non-mainstream things like custom reverse DNS and >1 public IP (although you have to pay for it and their network setup is a bit strange).
