A policeman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a female officer died in a car crash.
PC Claire Howarth was killed when the silver BMW she was driving left the road in Harwood, Greater Manchester, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The 31-year-old was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital with a serious head injury and later died.
Her passenger, a 26-year-old male police officer, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives.

what the hell  should be an interesting investigation

If he caused the crash by interfering with her driving (punching, slapping, messing around) and she died as a result, that's probably murder, or manslaughter.

They aren't going to arrest one of their won without a damn good reason to suspect something. My guess is along the lines of they were havign a fling and it went sour and someone was upset. Thats just a theory but it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

To be honest, all he's got to say is that she went crazy at him for some reason, and as she was driving he fought back only to protect himself in fear of his own safety. That is unless they have some concrete evidence.

From the same source as the O/P's post.
"An investigation has been launched to establish how the victim sustained her injuries and the possibility she was attacked before the road traffic collision," he added.

"A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning."

The spokesman said the officers were not on duty at the time.

Formal identification and a post-mortem examination are expected to take place later today.

A police source said the policewoman's injuries were not consistent with the damage done to the car in the crash.

Maybe she crashed - and then he beat her up for not concentrating on her driving. I don't think it states that it was her car anywhere - so it may have been his.

That will be two less bobbies on that beat anyway. Another excuse to get more of the PCSO's in

Sounds like he killed her somewhere else, then put her in the car, drove the car into something, put her in the driving seat and claimed he was the passenger. Its been done before. A good accident investigator will look at the whole picture, not just the dead body. There are quite a few things to look out for, the most obvious being the injuries not being consistent with the impact damage on the car amongst others.
