new biostar ta790gx 128m DOA ?

recieved my new biostar ta790gx 128m this afternoon , removed my old motherboard etc and fitted the new board . fitted ram and cpu etc , went to power it up and nothing . tried different ram and got same result so i changed my cpu from the phenom II 720BE to my old athlon x2 7750BE and still same result , so i tried my old windsor x2 6000 and still no post although fans are spinning . the onboard led's are not on so i removed eveything , refitted my old mobo and everything works fine . so i tried it out of the case with the same results , surely it cannot be a dead board ?

this happened to me when i took mine out to clean and put it back in
it only powered up when i got the little separate coloured wires in one of the corners connected properly that control the power button and front LEDs

everything was connected correctly , i checked everything a dozen times . ready for pulling my hair out , fitted many motherboards in my time but none have had this happen before . time for rma ?

the board?
-maybe a component or something isnt compatible or something silly.

checked every cable?
tried taking everything out and reinstalling?

i only have one case , but i did try the psu out of my dads system . dad would not let my strip his system fully

Also whats your spec? what are you putting into the board?

yes thats the one , both were bought from ocuk . and i checked before i ordered the board to see if the cpu was supported

Was gonna say, the only thing i can see is that the CPU is socket AM3, and the board is AM2+, im not familiar with AMD sockets so i couldnt tell you indefinitely if they would work together,

But other than that your components dont really seem to clash =/

Maybe give them a call in the morning?

That page recommends that you update to the latest bios revision beforehand.

I dont suppose you have an am2 chip that you could use just to boot the pc and flash the bios?

i tried it with an am2+ 7750BE and a am2 athlon x2 6000 , no matter what i tried i could not get it to post . not even any error beeps or anything , already got the flash drive ready

Sounds like your motherboard is a coaster

Give the nice lads at Oc a call tomorrow and see if they can assist, they may be able to diagnose a problem or suggest that its a duff board in which case im sure they will help you out

still waiting on the outcome from the rma testing , rang them yesterday and they said it was booked in this afternoon (friday) . not happy with all the waiting tbh , was going to order a new psu and another 4870 today but not till i get my mobo back
