Hey guys,

Does anyone have any information on student friendly estate agents or apartments in the London area for students in placement year. Websites, numbers, names or anything will do. Also I'm looking not to share however 2 bedrooms is a must. Any ideas?

Yep, go with Gumtree. I'm working in London on my placement year right now; which area of London are you going to be working in?

You're really going to struggle on a placement year budget i'd have thought to get a 2 bed place... unless you want to live miles out. :confused:

Personally, I'd rather share a really nice, reasonably central place than have my own dingy flat somewhere in zone 5. As others have said, Gumtree is good, but you can also find the normal property and estate agents sites.

Not the easiest, but should be possible. I moved into a place in northwest only about 3 weeks ago. 1 bedroom and paying 230 + bills. Great location.

For 200-220 (with or without bills?), if you want a 1 bed, I suggest looking in Golders green area. Zone 3 and more basically. I looked around a fair bit in hampstead, belsize park area etc. and there was very little. Some of the places were horrendous. Finally found a place online which is owned by a company. So deal with them directly instead of through an agent.

Islington/Angel might also be worth looking into as areas?

200 idealy without bills. Many thanks for the information. Would you be able to give me the name of the company you dealt with please?

KF Properties is the name. I think there was a studio as well in teh same building I am for 200.

is the site, but a friend found the place for me on a regular property search website. Since they are landlords, I would assume it does cut down on agent costs etc.

Angel is going to be above his budget for a 1 bed though he could get a studio/bedsit

further north in Islington though is worth looking at - maybe Highbury, Holloway, Caledonian Road etc.. - tis very easy to get into central London from - close to Angel & Camden for nights out and should be within his budget... just.

Just a quick question but what are the actually differences between a studio and 1 bedroom, I thought the former was simply more open-plan?

generally

studio = bed/sofa/kitchen unit all in same room + a small toilet/shower

1 bedroom = a double bedroom, a lounge/kitchen (normally open plan though sometimes a separate kitchen) + a bathroom

have a look through gumtree and you'll get the picture

Hey guys, sadly I'm still looking mid-june is my cut off. I'm now considering Canary Wharf areas if anyone has any advise for there.

What about North East? I lived in a house share in Leyton last summer, 2 minutes from the tube station for £100 a week. Only took 25 minutes to get from door to office near Liverpool St.
