I just sold a q6600 in MM. It was fully working when I pulled it from my rig but on receipt it would appear not to work.

It might have being damaged in posting but just in case it isn't, can anybody suggest anything please?

previous CPU was Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Alendalle" 1.86GHz

Mobo is Gigabyte GA_965P_DS4 bios 12 beta

Cleared CMOS and reseated CPU.

No beeps on boot.

Nothing, as soon as i switched back to my e6300 booted fine with nothing else changed.

Does the board support the Q6600?

Edit:- Or does the board need a BIOS update in order to take it?

Quote from the manual, if any help:

ATX_12V_2X / ATX (Power Connector)
With the use of the power connector, the power supply can supply enough stable power to all the
components on the motherboard. Before connecting the power connector, please make sure that
all components and devices are properly installed. Align the power connector with its proper
location on the motherboard and connect tightly.
The ATX 12V (2x4) power connector mainly supplies power to the CPU. If the ATX 12V (2x4)
power connector is not connected, the system will not start. If you wish to install a power supply
that provides ATX 12V (2x2) power connector, please connect the ATX 12V power connector to the
Pin 3, 4, 7, 8 of the onboard ATX_12V_2X power connector according to the pin definitions.
Important Use of a power supply providing an ATX 12V (2x4) power connector is recommended
by processor manufacturer when using Intel Pentium D Extreme Edition processor.
Caution! Please use a power supply that is able to handle the system voltage requirements. It is
recommended that a power supply that can withstand high power consumption be used (400W or
greater). If a power supply is used that does not provide the required power, the result can lead to an
unstable system or a system that is unable to start. If you use a power supply that provides a 24-pin
ATX or 2x4 pin ATX 12V power connector, please remove the small cover on the power connector on
the motherboard before plugging in the power cord ; otherwise, please do not remove it.

Looking at my board manual / my board. Only have one extra power slot which is the ATX 12v 2X which i have plugged in already. Also has a 4 pin 12v molex for PCI E ...nothing else I can plug in!

Keep the ideas coming guys i really want to get this sorted :(

Looking at the picture on Gigabytes site and their downloadable manual it has two 4 pin cpu power connectors. One has a black cap on though to remove

And I;ve checked your psu and it has two 4 pin cpu power connectors on it. Suggest you try connecting both and fingers crossed ;)
