Ive just made the move from P35 to X48.

My Q9450 would only manage 3.4ghz on the P35 but on the board its at 3.9ghz and I haven't even began to start tweaking the voltages yet.

Ive got a DFI X48 though.

I'm hoping for 4.0 - 4.2ghz.

You may experience a problem with 8megs of OCZ and an Asus x48 motherboard. Asus motherboards can, have shown problems when running OCZ. OCZ memory is not the problem, it is the Asus bios.

If you take a look over at the OCZ forum, they have the Asus motherboard compatibility and testing with OCZ memory

Thats quite impressive. I wonder if it would do the same for my q6600 :D

If my memory serves me right, surely the P45 is newer than the X48, which is basically better quality X38 chips...see Here

Generally, the P45 will o/c better than an X48 board...
o,o thanks for that was just about to get a Asus Rampage Extreme lol so will look now at the p45 bords thanks once agan

experience tells me x48 clock much better...

Really... ;)

Fog, I would suggest you have a look around Here at the different threads of different motherboards and see at first hand what kind of o/cs people are getting before you buy anything...

EDIT: Also, if you are going to spend that kind of money, you would be better going for i7 and X58...

P45s clock better generally speaking. It's a newer chipset wheras the X48s are just X38s with a different name.

P45 is a much better clocker than X48. At one time or another I had one of every X48 board made and they were all worse clockers than a vanilla ASUS P5Q at half to a third the price.

Is the x48 really that much better when it comes to crossfire or is it just a slight bit above?

I currently have a p45 board and was looking at getting two new at cards to try crossfire but if x48 kills it i might save up bit more and replace the board.

The X48 has dual PCI 2.0 at full 16x speed, whilst P45 supports two cards at 8x speed only, though it'll run a single card at full 16x speed. Though personally, I'd stick with the board you have and stick with a good single card.
