Hi,
Anyone had the problem of being pretty much impossible to touch your own eye, but wanting contacts?

No matter how hard i try, my eye will almost completely shut when my finger gets near it. Even holding it open is hard. It is like i have no control over it. any suggestions?

What's wrong with glasses?

Or perhaps,

You get used to it after a while, its very difficult to control your upper and lower eyelids at first, after a while you get used to it and they just pop in, just practice.

You aren't supposed to actually touch your eye surface when you put contacts in and take them out.
The best way do put them in is place on the the white of your eye where it's less sensitive and then direct it towards the centre.

Try getting drunk and practising. I had major problems using contacts at first, as touching my eye in any way went againt my instinct. Now I'm used to it and it's second nature. Keep trying and don't give up, you'll get there.

Look up, put the contact in the bottom right, white part of the eye. Close your eye and look up, down, left and right and it'll end up in the right place.

I was the same, probably worse than you where the thought of touching my eyes made me physically sick.

8 years later I still use them fine :P

Man up and just whack it in, it's all in you head ;)!

Seriously I have worn contacts for the last 2 years and after the intial week you'll be putting them in and taking them out almost instantly.

I had trouble sticking them in the 1st time because i would always blink just before they were in.

That reflex has gone now and can stick them in quickly and effortlessly.

Only problem i have is i can never tell if they are inside out or not.

It does take a few weeks to get use to them, it's well worth it though. Iv'e been wearing them for 8 years now. I started with the monthly ones but have switched to daily's in recent years.

Glad i'm not the only one with problems touching the eye lol.

Only gonna be using them for weekends i think, don't think i can be bothered for day to day/work stuff. Will probably get disposable ones too

See how it goes - you might change your mind once you get used to them. I haven't worn glasses in years now (in fact I don't even think I have any). I think most people generally find monthlies a bit more comfortable than dailies, its just less convenient.
