I agree that guy was an idiot and it was totally unjustified. Some people are just horrid, fact of life. You do realise that being OcUK some of us have to take the mandatory "holier than thou" stance and say "well keep ya mouth shut next time" ;) :p

Hehe. No, i'm just trying to understand how someone could concieve the OP to have shown threatening, or just behaviour deserved of what he recieved, is all. Doesn't make sense to me. Im all for opinions!

Unfortunately, and especially with the type of person you are describing, 'the sword really is mightier than the pen'. Anything you say verbally will be like waving red at a bull. I would never recommend using your wit with someone like that unless you can back it up with your fists. Although it goes without saying that you did not deserve to be attacked for defending yourself verbally, in their minds, it gives them a form of justification.
 
wp with the come back is to hard to tell if they are going to just throw some insults at you or punch. so to be on the safe side expect them to attack and try to keep at least 2-3ft pref 5-6ft distance casually like someone said before.

That way you can react to what he does if he comes right up to in your face may as well just hit him if you can handle him or better yet just step back a couple of yards while saying something and turn and run fast as you can :].

Self defence laws in this country aren't so bad and some people need to read up on them. you can effectively pre empt an attack and react and get away with it can't imagine he jury sideing over some chav with a bad school and possibly crinimal record over a normal person.
 
When the chav called him an emo he shouldn't have said anything at all, he should have just punched him, thus getting the first one in, he didn't, he said something back, so the chav got the first one one in, so its an unlucky in my book, he got what he deserved for calling him, and vice versa, if he just punched him after his insult, then he would have got what he deserved.

It's quite funny really that you guy's go on about so called "chavs" and Categorise them all as one Homogeneous group and 'All' being the scum of the earth. Your as bad as they are! Like I said before there's good and bad in every group. It is simply not the case that if you ain't a 'chav' then your either and 'emo' or a 'goff', whatever that means? I ain't never had any trouble with so called 'chavs' as mentioned previously and I am as far away from looking/being like them as possible, but I don't judge them or give off any vibe's that I am somehow better than they are and as a result I ain't never had any trouble, and have had many good ol' mashups with "half-chavs" who are sound as a pound and the most placid individuals I've ever met. probably all the weed they smoke!!haha. Rather that than the drunken call-centre 'trendy boy' *******-up on a Friday night and 'kicking-off'.
I am in no way defending the actions of this moron but the way some of you lot speak about certain groups of the Uk's population makes you on the same level as them in my opinion.
