My Corsair HX620 just went pop.. :(

Hey guys, last night i had a very unpleasant experience with my power supply, seems like my Corsair HX620 psu just went pop after only being used for 2 years.

It's kinda ironic because my sister's been using her computer which has a Q-tec psu for the past 5 years and it's been running totally fine, and i have this top of the range psu with a well respected manufacturer and it blows up within 2 years.
What's even more ironic is that before i had this psu, i had a Hiper Type-R psu, but after hearing the rumors about the Hiper psu blowing up, i immedietly replaced it with the Corsair.

I know a psu's lifespan depends on how often you use your computer and how much strain you put on your psu, and i do admit, i do use my computer quite a lot for gaming, but i really didn't expect for this psu to go out that early considering how much i paid for it.

So now i'm having to choose which power supply i should get, my budget is upto £120 and i was wondering if anyone can recommend me a good psu withing that price range.

Would appreciate any input.
 
corsair make very good psu's, i think youve just been unlucky.

as others have said, cant you get it replaced?

i would always give them an email and see what they say, you never know, they have always been very helpfull with me in the past :D

yeah those are great psu's aswell, wont really go far wrong with a zalman or BeQuite tbh

hey join the club dude, my 2 year old HX620 went bang last week, well it was more of a loud pop, with a bright flash from inside the psu & a burnt smell form out the back vent.

any way, ive bought a Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 750W for £120.99 inc VAT click me to tide me over while i rma my Corsair. luckily ive still got me original purchase receipt so i'll be fine in that respect. just the luck of the draw i guess. ;)

Did you buy it online? If you did you could look at your order history and print off a copy of your order despatch. Or you could ask for a copy of your e-receipt off the retailer?

Worth a try.

Thank's for the tip, i did actually look at my order history and found a copy of the order, what a relief :)
