Been undecided all day, PS3 or not

People like yourself sitting on the fence pondering, well if they dont get a PS3 just now id be certain most will within th next 6-12 months.

By then it will have a software lineup that possibly betters x360.
Well certainly seems its getting more exclusives in this period.

Maybe one way to look at it is has X360 peaked regards its best or biggest games and maybe PS3 is about to do so this incoming year.

If half the E3 rumours are to be believed the 360 has an incredible fall 2009 and 2010 line up with a ton of exclusive titles.

One way to look at it is Sony have already shown almost all their games where-as MS have held titles back. MS have already said whilst just concentrating on that fall line up each E3 has it's merits, this year it might be better to tease titles further out so they don't get accused of having a weaker future line up.

If anything in 6-12 months when Sony do have a very strong line-up (which they will) MS and Nintendo will have announced their next consoles thus rendering the PS3 obsolete.

To the OP; it sounds like you need a new shiny toy and the PS3 would fit bill. I would however voice caution as if you're not really playing on the 360 maybe it's gaming per se you're slightly bored of.

If you fancy a change, get the PS3!

It's a great console, and you can always flog it and get another 360 (or get both) when the time comes..

My only concern is that it 'feels' like the PS3 is overdue a price cut, and it's tempting to hang on to see if it materialises, but judging from Sony reaction and with the poor £ at the moment, I'd say it's less likely to happen then most people think.

This may come as a bit of a shock so you may want to sit down...............Your living in a fantasy world.

Seriously though, that is not going to happen any time soon, and also when it does it has been strongly rumoured that both MS and SONY's next consoles will just be an 'upgrade' rather than a than the technological leap that we are used to with regards to consoles releases, and both consoles should be natively compatible with our current software titles, which makes sense considering people will want to take their collection of digitally downloaded software with them.

The pad is definetly worse on the PS3, but after selling my 360 ive now adapted, when i had both i rarely used the PS3 as the 360 pad was so much more comfortable. Theres some very nice niche PS3 games though, Disgae, Valkaria Chronicles, theres nothing like them on the 360, not to mention LBP etc.

Are you being serious, so your saying MS have a "ton of exclusives for 09 10". Not for argumentive sake but id like you to research into that and provide some factual titles. FM3 is the biggest game they have coming, but then im a racing game fan. Please by all means see the list below and you can provide YOUR X360 list to compare. Im not interested in "Rumours"

Microsoft will NOT and Nintendo will NOT be announcing a new console in the next 6-12 months. Microsoft need to make more profit from X360 my friend. Only now are they getting profit from it but they spent billions. Nintendo just need to come up with more games to maintain good sales so i dont see them in a hurry to create a new console, no too early for that.

Playstation 3 will NOT be obsolete, thats a bleedin stupid thing to say.
For the OP i recommend you get a PS3 and enjoy both platforms, as a gamer or movie fan both consoles should offer you hours upon hours of entertainment over the next couple of years yet and theirs nothing wrong with owning more than one console you know. X360 2nd hand value makes it not really worth selling unless you need the funds from it to purchase a PS3.

Regards PS3 its best has yet to come, thats what im saying here...

Many 360 fans (possibly yourself included) predicted big exclusives for MS to reveal last E3 as well (in fairness I expected some tricks up their sleeve last year). Off the top of my head (12 months-ish on from E3) I can only think of Lips, Gears 2 and Fable 2 and GTA 4 DLC that came out of that. Of those I am fairly sure all but Lips had been in development and had been announced/leaked/known about before E3.

I think PS3 had the much better exclusives last year (after E3) and the same seems to be this year. E3 will not suddenly redress the balance. Also I seriously doubt that MS or Nintendo will be revealing their next Home console in the next 12 months (before or at E3 2010).

If it was not down to the price and the difference in Live/PSN I think PS3 has caught up and surpassed 360 in terms of quality games (mainly talking exclusives in the last 12 months and the next.

to OP, I would still hold back getting a PS3 straightaway as a price cut was mentioned to happen after Easter. Not heard much about that recently, but it is due some sort of new bundle/price cut. I would wait till E3 (only because it is 1 monthis-ish away only).

Final fantasy 13 isn't exclusive (edit: sorry versus is IIRC), ninja gaiden 2 is already out on 360 (Well, there will be extra content on ps3) and you've listed metal gear solid online as a seperate game from MGS 4 =/.

If you're a fan of metal gear solid series then MGS4 is a great title on ps3, and upcoming I think infamous looks pretty interesting. Overall though unless you're interested in blu ray I wouldn't bother.

Seen as I'm here I don't tend to buy many PS3 games because they look inferior to the 360 versions of the same game. Is there any lists about of games produced from the ground up for the PS3.

I think most recent cross platform titles tend to be on par but early cross platform titles do tend to run better on 360.

Glad you took the time to proof the list, its not my list so apologies if its not fully accurate. By all means strike off the ones you mention. However the point being made is the AMOUNT of games that are exclusives. Playstation if anything has/will have MORE exclusives than X360. Sony just have more IPs as well.

Thats reason for getting a PS3 is it not?

exactly sony let us have the games when they are ready and MS holds back to boost their end year profits

obsolete, what are you smoking, the ps3 has another 5-6 years in it yet and even then ppl will still be playing it
i still play my ps2 games, even though i play them on my ps3

So for people who only buy new or recent games (most gamers imo) it is a moot point?

Well regards racing games, would i rather use this wheel in my sig or an X360 wheel? For me being able to use PC wheels on PS3 is a MAJOR advantage on all multiplatform racing titles.

Thought this was relevant saying some are going on about controllers earlier.

I think most recent cross platform titles tend to be on par but early cross platform titles do tend to run better on 360.

Eurogamer is one website that has done comparisons a lot, thing is that if the title is developed on one console then chances are that console version may have superior but small advantages. Depends though do developers now start using PS3 as the leading console to design on and then port to X360 now that it seems most companies are getting on top of the PS3 hardware/coding issues?

Yeah that's what I was getting at, unless you have friends who want to play multiplayer on either platform. As for exclusives there is a huge quantity I'd agree but I'd mainly just cut it down to the AAA titles as those tend to be the ones worth buying a console for.

The 360 scene is seriously dry at the moment! PS3 this year has been miles better on the games front! If you can afford one then I say do it, but if you are short for cash then I would wait until E3 as hopefully MS will announce some more titles.

What do you mean has been? It's only mid-2009 and E3 hasn't been yet.

So far the only PS3 exclusive I can think of that has came out is Killzone 2, Infamous is out soon but that doesn't look like it's gonna be a system seller.

Only exclusive this year that makes the PS3 a must have for me is Heavy Rain, I can't get rid of my PS3 anyway as Atlus are more than likely gonna do Persona 5 on PS3 than 360, unless they stick to PS2 which is fine by me.

There has been nothing on 360 since Gears 2, and the only thing I will deffo be buying on the horizon so far is Splintercell. It really is dry atm. There has been a much greater amount of game announcements for PS3 this year though we will just wait and see what E3 offers.

If there were any secret huge games coming out this year, we would have known about them by now. Anything Sony or microsoft announce at E3 will either be games we already know about or games for 2010.

Sony has had the better exclusives so far this year, theres no doubt about that.
