I need a few quick suggestions, some of you may remember my thread about the i7 build, well I'm buying a few bits this week (mainly the case, mobo and ram etc) and need to know what's the best motherboard for overclocking?

Cheers.
:D

This is with the TPOWER board, right?
Managed to get a D0 also upto 4.2ghz on the Biostar TPower X58, temps were quite hot running LinX though but I just had a True 120 with 1 fan.

Adjusting the PCI Clock increases the BCLK clock with the Biostar board. :)

^^Nah, just use sensible voltages and keep an eye on the temps. Should you fall asleep while testing (:D) the chip will be automatically thermally throttled to prevent damage. So clock away and enjoy! :D

Did he do that with air cooling?

NO WAY! :D

it was on a triple radiator dude

Heh, I need a motherboard available to buy this week.

if i was buying an x58 board i would only consider 3 boards for the following reasons...

Gigabyte - UD5
[great VFM, performs the same as the extreme for less £, better than the Rampage2, uk based RMA service]

Evga classified
[great if money is no object and you have plans for multi gpu madness, dont get this if you aren't watercooling as the police will knock on your door and arrest you for committing treason against hardware]

Biostar X58
[nice price, great quality, good bios/support, great clockers - mine did 222 BCLK]

That is my one concern, frying the processor.

i think you will be fine

a D0 @ 4GHz clock on a thermalright ultra/noctua should be easily obtainable on what i suggested

just aim to get the cpu Vcore below 1.3V

The man himself! :D

Haha, kidding. Thanks for the all the info, I appreciate. I think I'll go with the Biostar to save money to buy some extras and stuff. Cheers again!
