Contact lenses

I had trouble sticking them in the 1st time because i would always blink just before they were in.

That reflex has gone now and can stick them in quickly and effortlessly.

Only problem i have is i can never tell if they are inside out or not.

If they're in inside out your vision won't be as good, they'll be more prone to popping out and won't be as comfortable. The best way to tell is by the shape of the lens before you put it in your eye. If it looks perfectly round along the edge then its right, if its slightly curling over then its inside out and needs reversing. Took me ages to work that one out!

Yep, it's just something you get used to but now I've got used to it I hate going back to wearing glasses.

Biggest problem I have these days is cooking with chillies and forgetting to wear gloves... then taking my contact out a few hours later :)

Go to an opticians - they should let you have a go at doing it.

I have been wearing Gas Permeable lenses for 2 years, they are smaller than soft lenses and made of hard material. So you just stretch your eye open (doesn't have to be as wide as for soft lenses) then you just poke it in ;)

Took me a while to get used to it. Tried the soft lenses again last november and still couldn't do it :(

Good luck!

I find if I put them in the wrong way I know instantly its one of the most uncomfortable things in the world like a massive peice of grit in your eye

I had this exact same problem

Could not touch my eye, and am extremely squeamish about eyes

But I hate glasses so decided to go for contacts, after a couple of days using them it was not a problem at all, I was putting them in in seconds.

Just go for it, you get used to it very quickly

Taking them out is much easier than putting them in. You sort of pinch just above the eye (not the actual eye itself lol) and they come off, infact you don't even have to touch the eye to take them out :p

I used to take haf an hour to put my lenses in; I was just as paranoid as you. Now, it's a matter of minutes - you get used to it. Removing them is still as hard sometimes though; I do end up touching my eye sometimes - ewww.

This is my problem - I wanna get contacts and would have no trouble putting them in - but getting them out would be a whole different story :|

To take out my RGPs i pull the skin at the corner of my eye then blink, lense pops out no problem.

Not sure if that method would work with other types of lense though.

I'm going to get contacts soon (never worn glasses or contacts before) but my vision is starting to annoy me a bit now. Went for an eye test last year and they said unless it irritates you, then you are ok.

I think it's got a bit worse since then..

Anyway, what are best? Monthly or Daily? Also what's the monthly cost roughly as I can imagine it becomes quite expensive?

Cheers.
