Bit of a bizarre question to ask for one of these cars, however just something the GF mentioned about when we discussed about getting one and doing more driving holidays.

Looking into one of these for a next car, and will also like to do a fair few road trips around europe in it.

How much space do you get for luggage in one of these things?

In terms of size, what kind of case would we be able to fit in? Would only 1 fit in etc etc?

Has anyone done a trip in one for say 2 weeks and with 2 of you, could you fit a case big enough to make sure you had enough clothing for the duration?

Thanks

according to parkers.

For a two-seat convertible space isn't bad. The boot is a decent size that will take a suitcase and overnight bag, and if you keep the roof up you can increase the amount of boot space by collapsing the storage compartment for the roof out of the way.

I would not want to do a road trip around Europe in a Z4, its not a brilliant long distance tool so if you do, keep the daily mileage down unless you want to arrive at your destination feeling like you need to go to bed.

Got to agree there. I saw a guy struggling to get in a case of Champagne from Tattingers in Reimes a few years ago. his GF's luggage was already spilling out into the passenger space.
I did suggest Ditch the Bitch by my vicar friend said that was uncharitable :)

Id say we would do between 200 - 400 a day, why is it such a tiring car to drive? Cant be any worse than my ST24 on a long journey?

I dunno, I just find it absolutely brilliant fun when out for a hoon but irritating when doing a long journey. The ride is very hard, the cabin noise is particularly instrusive, etc. It's a fun sports car not a mile muncher.

No idea what the Z4 is like but in the MX-5 it was the roadnoise and poor 3/4 Visibility on motorways which made things hardwork. Cheshire to the Nurburgring was very very hard work and not something i'd do again in the 5 without an overnight break.

Depending which roads you drive whilst in Europe i can see something like the Z4 being a lot of fun, its the long motorway stints that are an issue.

Well my Z4M has the battery raised up into the boot to eat away at what precious little space there is in a regular Z4. I managed to get two mid size cases in there and a small holdall, which was enough for a week for two fo us.

You should also note that to enable "maximum capacity" you flip up a shelf in the boot which disables the roof coming down.

I'm considering one of these for when I need more space:

When we do one we would probabally be doing it over a 2week break, so we can drive for as little or as long as we want.

Just done a 500 mile round trip in the ST24, really cant imagine the z4 been any worse than the Mondeo. Not something I would worry about anyway, only do 20 miles a day commute and its not like we would be going away every weekend.

The boot bag is quite interesting though, doesnt look brilliant, but a good compromise.
