Looking to book a return flight to Thailand for end of July. Cheapest I could find was 680 return from Birmingham-Zurich-Bangkok, this seem expensive to anyone else? Never done anything like this before so does anyone know the best places to look for cheap flights?

you're flying in peak season and booking 2 months before departure, you'll be hard pressed to find anything under £500

remember that taxes make up most of the fare

I booked mine through Thomas Cook, getting them to pricematch Netflights (Who they have since bought anyway). Managed to get £560 return to Melbourne so £680 to Thailand seems very expensive!

£435 Mahan Airlines

Mahan Air (Persian: هواپیمایی ماهان) is a private airline based in Tehran, Iran

Due to the sanctions imposed by the US government, Iranian airliners can only acquire airplanes which are at least seven years old

The Boeing 747 fleet they operate has an average age of 20 years

On 11 September 2007, the European Commission added Mahan Air to the list of airlines banned within the EU. [3] The ban was subject to certain limitations; for example, Mahan Air was able to operate aircraft wet-leased from other carriers provided those aircraft met EU regulations, however this ban was lifted on 25 July 2008 in view of the significant efforts and progress accomplished by this carrier, which were verified during an on site inspection in Iran.

Just how desperate are you to save money :p

oh :o

Well, Kayak post prices from just about any airline, so there are other good deals to be found there on reputable airlines as well. It's worth signing up so you can use the flexible dates option and get daily/weekly price checks by email on the specific flight dates you're aiming for.

We're not sure whether to stay in Thailand for our 3-4 week stay, or fly back from somewhere else. Anyone been to Vietnam, Cambodia or Malaysia? Anything/Anyone(:D) worth doing there?

Still more dangerous to travel by most other modes - statistically. :D

On a similair note can anyone recomend a place for cheap flights to Amsterdam from Manchester?

EasyJet don't do it and the only one i can think of is KLM (Royal Dutch) and got flights for £119 return, mid July that was.

Also try opodo.co.uk

Finnair offer the fastest route from Europe to Thailand and are pretty cheap. If you do use them try and specify the A330 instead of the MD-11, much more modern plane.
