Hi all, i am looking to order a new card for my second pc but im in two minds about what card to go for, its between the ATI xfx 4850 xxxo/c card and the NVIDIA xfx 250gts.

All the reviews i have read seem to show the nvidia card taking the lead but i was wondering if new ati drivers have been released that have or will changed this seeing as the ati card is newer tech. please let me know you opinion and im sorry if this question has been asked before.

about 90 quid, i live in jersey so i dont have to pay vat.

I didnt mention before but my second pc is fitted into a little antec **** case so size kind off matters but both cards will fit in, dont know if that changes anything.(running a external power supply btw)

Yup i'd take the GTS250 also.

Faster than the 4850, about the same price, overclocks better, has a better stock cooler, and is quieter under load.

4850 is better bang for buck...

Also with future driver updates, you will gain better performance.

I am not a fanboy, I have had as many Nvidia Cards as ATI just at the moment ATI are Pushing cheaper and better performance parts atm

You can get a GTS250 for less than £90, exactly the same as the 4850.

The GTS250 is the faster card, so for the same price the GTS250 is actually the better 'bang for buck' card.

Actually nearly all the original reviews were 1GB GTS250 vs 512MB 4850. Thats why ppl say the GTS is faster. When you compare like for like they are remarkably close.

If you do compare like with like, both the 512MB cards and the 1GB cards are available within a couple of £ of each other and both offer within a couple of frames of each other in terms of performance. So then it just comes down to whether you:

a) Already have one type in your system already in which case its less hassle to stick with Nvidia/AMD from the point of view of switching over drivers/hassle/etc
OR
b) You have a mental preference of one brand over the another, in which case the choice is simple :)

This is very true, however if you want to go my manufacture make sure you get a Lifetime warranty like BFG or a 5Year like XFX

ATI f.t.w BTW :)
