The C button on my phone felt a bit spongey from day one and now it's gone on me. Instead of deleting characters it will function as the Side Up button instead. It will work if I press it very hard but most of the time it won't.

Now I'd do a firmware reflash to rule that out but guess what? I need to press the C button to get the thing in SEMC flash mode!

I am fuming, I had to reflash it with generic firmware because the Orange firmware kept crashing now this. SE need to sort their build quality issues out as all their top end phones are shockingly built.

My SE phone done that albeit I did get some hard use out of it beforehand. It was the main scroll button on the w800i, still works but I have to get my sword out and the power of greyskull in order for it to respond!

Heard about a lot of problems with that particular model, one of the lads at work had to send his back for a similar issue. Seems like a very poor made handset which is a shame as it seemed to have a lot going for it.

Having had problems with keys on my k770 I got a new contract with a Nokia E71, I can't recommend it enough, it's fantastic! Build quality is miles ahead, though avoid nokia slidey phones, they don't seem as good.

I have a SE w580i.

I've had it for 2 years and the # key is only jsut going. I cannot find a reasonable replacement for it. I love my phone. Its been through everything :D

SE are good phones, but yes the build quality could be better.

I love the phone to bits. It does EXACTLY what I want, but it feels so poorly made. The slider has a bit of wobble to it, some of the number keys stick sometimes, the lens slider is laughable and now the every common C button problem.

I've only had the thing for 3 weeks.

Not impressed.

According to the Sony Ericsson bods we have contact with in store, they realise that their build quality has taken a massive hit over the past couple of years, they are promising that going forward we'll see them making a lot less handsets, but that the ones they do turn out will be a lot more reliable.

The C905 has been plagued with issues, the sticking / knackered C button is a known one, as is the pretty poor software, and the most prolific of them all - the speaker packing up.

If its on a contract with Orange, get them to fix it while its still under warantee!

Oh I forgot the mention the top speaker sounds like it has blown and sounds crackly, it was good at 1st but now it sounds like crap.

Known fault, happens on 50% of them that were made before December 2008. Easily resolved at a repair centre.

50%!

A 50% failure rate

SE SERIOUSLY need to sort their act out as this is my 8th and last SE if build quality doesn't improve.

My girlfirend has gone through around 5 c902 phones in the past year, all faulty, yet she still loves SE for some unknown reason.

you are on your 8th...i thought that would have told you something :p

my gf has a c905 but its been fine. is the middle button suppost to be spongy though:confused: lol

SE make good phones! Excluding the build quality. If the build quality was good they'd be a top maker. BEcause the phone I've got I cannot replace. I've been looking around for a new phone but I just cant see it replacing the one I've got now.

Quite affew people have problems with keys cracking aswell. Mine has got them. After its been abused for about 2 years. And the pedometer is broken. But everything else is fine :D

And yet the K800i was the best phone I've ever had... what have they been doing?! Amazing camera, good mp3 player and solid phone OS.

Why?

I've had mine 18 months. Been utterly perfect, never missed a beat.

It was slow (playing videos was sluggish at best), unreliable (had to get it replaced 3 times and finally got it swapped for an N95). They keyboard layout was fiddly and the touch buttons were bearable but the N95 is far easier to navigate.

The main problem with it was the camera - the n95 is far better in all situations. The xeon flash should have produced better pictures in the dark but it was rare to get it to work properly, most of the time it would flash burn or be completely dark, and no, it wasn't how i was holding the camera :)

I was hoping to have the C905 as my next upgrade !
How ever colleagues at work have C905 and they have loys of problems with this phone !
One colleague has had 3 replacement phones ! ! !
Sony Ericsson really do need to address these issues, as it will only inspire people to look at LG, Samsung & the mortal enemy Nokia ! ! !
Now Nokias build quality has got better over the years, however still needs to be better. The thing they have going for them is the realiability, which is what counts !
